"Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out" was my entire childhood. The New York Post did a piece on how the famous game became so popular. One fun tidbit from the article discloses how much Tyson actually got paid for the gig...
quote:

The first Nintendo version of the game didn’t include Tyson — Super Macho Man was the final opponent in the limited-edition giveaway — but Nintendo of America president Minoru Arakawa became so impressed with the Brooklyn native after watching one of his 1986 bouts that Tyson’s likeness was secured for a three-year period, for a reported $50,000.

The bargain deal was signed shortly before Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion in history, and when the game was then released, the perfect final boss — 31-0 in reality at the time — was in place.

My biggest regret in life is never beating Mike Tyson. Had him on the ropes several times just couldn't put him away

Took me nearly a summer when I was off during college to beat Tyson. I dusted the NES off and finally did it. It's basically trial and error until you learn the exact timing of his punches. I still have yet to beat Ninja Gaiden however.

For those who have yet to beat it, you can buy it for $5 on Nintendo shop if you have a 3DS. Tyson is not at the end (Mr. Dream) but it is essentially the exact game.

That is the Konami code that was used in Contra to get 99 lives and used in a lot of other games made by Konami as a cheat.
