New LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. was rumored to be a candidate for the head coaching job with the New York Giants, but has since denied interest in other jobs outside of LSU.

“I’m fired up about finishing the job at Ole Miss and the future at LSU,” Weis said.

An ESPN report Sunday suggested Weis' name had surfaced as a potential candidate for the Giants’ staff. The report sparked concern in Baton Rouge, where Weis is expected to join head coach Lane Kiffin following a College Football Playoff run with the Ole Miss Rebels.

On Monday, Weis told On3's Chris Low he has no interest in leaving for the NFL and remains focused on his current and future roles. “I’m fired up about finishing the job at Ole Miss and the future at LSU,” Weis said.

Weis is currently balancing responsibilities, continuing to call plays for Ole Miss Rebels while preparing for his transition to LSU. He reiterated after Ole Miss’ 39-34 win over Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl quarterfinal that he plans to remain with the Rebels throughout their playoff run. Several Ole Miss offensive players have publicly praised his flexibility during the process.

No one is touching that $7m buyout for a coordinator. I think everyone expected UGA to crush the rebels and now they are stuck.
