Headed to Africa next month and it will be the longest plane ride I’ve ever had. I’m looking for some entertaining reading. I just got caught up on the Jack Carr books and was always partial to Tom Clancy. I’m also a fan of non-fiction books surrounding WWII like Band of Brothers and Unbroken. Any suggestions?

The Mark Greaney Gray Man Series is very good.
Lonesome Dove if you haven’t read it.
Shogun is another great one
Winds of War and War and Remembrance are great WWII historical fiction.
For non fiction WWII I highly recommend Ian Toll’s trilogy on the Pacific War

Will second Winds of War and War and Remembrance. Really enjoyed both books.
My best non-fiction WWII book I’ve read that follows the mold of Band of Brothers and Unbroken is EB Sledges With the Old Breed. Hell of a book.

Winter Fortress is a really good one. Bunch of Norwegian commandos thwart Hitler's attempt at an atomic bomb.
We Die Alone is a really good survival story following another Norwegian commando whose mission got spoiled by the Nazis. Recently made a movie on it (The 12th Man on Netflix)
Scholars of Mayhem Follows a group that leads a guerilla (French?) resistance.
Look into Ben MacIntyre if you like Cold War spy non-fiction. Particular A Spy Among Friends and The Spy and The Traitor.

Yes- French resistance during WW2. I know the author of that one. Happy to see someone recommending it. I thought it was a great story and well told.

"The Man-Eaters of Tsavo"
Novel on a true story that was later turned into the movie The Ghost and The Darkness
"The Last King of Scotland"
The book which later became the movie with the same name. It's about Ugandan President Idi Amin.
