My better half works at a publishing house, she told me about this one heading to galleys soon, coming out next year, says there's a 2007 LSU football subplot. Takes place in the river parishes and So Miss, Dixie Mafia stuff.
A former Gambino-Marcello lawyer presumed-killed under WITSEC protection, now a lowly marsh trapper, unearths a Spanish treasure in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

I asked her, she said it's a dude from the west bank lol His first book apparently, but she said errbody at her NY office is raving. Can't say his name even to me so i just hope his last name ain't some -eaux shite lol
fwiw the working title inhouse is "The Messagelieri" whatever that means, so they're calling it Gumbo, an she said ain't no king cake or voodoo in it, but lots of "A Simple Plan" and Fargo. one of the main dudes is a fictional former LSU walkon. Reads something like a Grisham, butwithout the court/client stuff
