Watched a local news story on Kelby Ouchley who has written some books on north louisiana bayous and bio-diversity.

Wondering if you all had any recs on other authors who write on similar subjects for Southeast Louisiana and maybe some books with quality pictures.

Not sure if you’re looking for fiction or non-fiction but these two are classics on Louisiana history:

Rising Tide- John Barry
Bayou Farewell- Mike Tidwell

New Orleans geographic history:
The Accidental City- Lawrence Powell

And an ethnographic/anthropologic history of the entire gulf region:

The Gulf- Jack Davis (truly fantastic book)

Thanks Wasp. Mostly non-fiction at this point.

Okay. Those are all non-fiction.

Of those suggested, the Gulf is my favorite. It touches on nature and hunting, construction and city planning, tourism and weather events. A really great all around book on the gulf region.

Thank you! CloudLibrary has it as an audiobook as well. Does it have some good pictures/animations?

I think there were a few relevant maps and pictures. Not many though.

It's not exactly what you're asking for but Frank Dobie's The Legend of Ben Lilly is a good read. That dude hated bears.

T-Boy's Honey Hole: A Ville Platte Couyon Paradise by Kevin LaFleur

Just kidding. Would be a good book though.
