New to the board, just curious if anyone has been reading the Mitch rapp series by Vince Flynn?

I read the first 12 in the series and kind of got tired of the Rapp character. Just like Reacher (I quit that series too), he was too humorless and righteous, his only "flaw" being extreme violence. That is my remembered perception anyway, it's been a few years.

I stopped when Flynn died and the new guy took over.

Not for any reason, so I have no idea if the quality dropped or not.

ETA (because I can’t help myself): you can always read the origin story novel for all these type of characters: Without Remorse.

I've read maybe one of the post-Flynn books, but that's it.

Yes. I read all of them and really like them. Kyle Mills took over for Flynn and did a good job. The new release has another new writer, so I’m curious to see if he stays true to the character.

Read the entire series twice. Fun books that are action packed. Mills does a good job after Flynn's passing.

Enjoyed all his books. Kyle Mills took over when he died it wasn't the same, but not bad.

Now someone is taking over for Kyle Mills in the Mitch Rapp series.

An author I really enjoy similar to Vince Flynn books is Ben Cows.

I've read them all including post death of Flynn. It dropped off a little after he died but still has been pretty good. The books are a fun, easy read which is the main reason I have continued reading them.

They certainly hosed the movie.....other than Keaton's part. I thought he played a believable Stan Hurley.

I just rewatched this again last week after surgery. I'm a huge Mitch Rapp fan and didn't hate or love the movie when it originally came out. Agree that Keaton was the best part.

There were good things. The Rapp character was average. I liked his motivations to go after terrorists. It was a little unbelievable how much he accomplished on his own, but it did a decent job of showing his motivations, natural talent and disregard for most rules. I would have rather more time spent in his training over a year instead of jumping quickly into big missions. Show him on small missions doing well and screwing up, then learning from his mistakes. My biggest issue is the actor didn't scream "Mitch Rapp, alpha male" to me. On second watch he was better, but not great.

I would love a good Amazon Prime series about Rapp. Bring in some other characters like Scott Coleman (who could have a one season spinoff of Term Limits). Draw out his evolution from enraged, physically gifted wannabe to the guy that "keeps terrorists awake at night scared of him." They could go to so many locations from the books...Middle East, Africa, France, homegrown terrorist/bad government agencies.
