IMO Pelini can stay right where he's at.... SEC offenses had solved his defensive scheme his last two years here.

i liked Pelini when he was here. my hesitation of him coming back here stems from our 07 D going from QB killers to complete awful from start to finish of that season. i would love to know his reason for the complete collapse of the D that year.

Opposing teams figured out the gaps in his scheme and he couldn't close them. Pretty much simple as that.

at least half of the starters on D were banged up pretty good by the end of the season...the BCS game showed what they could do healthy.

Give up 24 points to Ohio State?

Pelini's "Championship D" gave up an average of 19.9 ppg and 286 ypg (106 rushing and 182 passing).

By comparison in 2006 they gave up 12.6 ppg and 242 ypg (97 rushing and 145 passing).

Offensives as a whole figured out how to move and score against Bo'd D.

So, who is the perfect coach that is guaranteed to never allow more than 7 points/game?

basically gave up 10 right at the beginning...

7 more on Flynn's pick that was run back to about the 10, then 7 more at the end of the game with the scrubs in.

really need to take out overtime points since the system is a joke...also do you have any clue how freakin good 286 yards per game is??

Is there some coach out there who you think would have some exotic defense where that wouldn't happen?

Don't get your panties in a wad b/c Bo isn't "all that". 286 ypg is good, but 20 ppg really average. But compared to the previous year both numbers are a regression.

My point, incase you missed it, was that Pelini's scheme was solved by the rest of the SEC by the time he left. Really, they solved at the mid-way point of the prior year and it just carried over into 2007.

Some coaches are solid X's and O's and some coaches are emotional cheerleaders. Pelini's a good coach. Just wouldn't be my choice as a HC. I'll just leave it at that.

If it takes firing Miles to get rid of Crowton, then for all means, kick his arse out of Baton Rouge tomorrow. To bring back Crowton would pretty much kill any momentum Miles has going in his favor. I think 99.99% of fans want Crowton gone, so there would be no backlash on his firing. If there was some, I could understand his refusal to fire him... but there is NONE! If true, and we get Crowton back next year, it proves how stupid Miles is as a football coach.

Sadly, our only hope at this point is Harbaugh refuses the job and Michigan saves us.

Well, certainly you must feel there is a coach out there who would have a defense that couldn't be figured out.

Injuries - didn't you notice how much better we were after the guys had a month to get healthy?

Let me start by saying I Do Not want Pelini as a head coach here.
His defense was suspect in big games, especially when the game was on the line and LSU needed a stop.
Am I the only one that remembers that?
Chavis basically is the same.
Both are good defensive coaches, but cant seem to pull the trigger on a strong blitz scheme with the game on the line and in 3rd and long or 4th down situations.

LSU has benefitted talent wise by having Les Miles here, he runs a clean program and parents and players love him.

Of all the negative talk about GC is there any OC in the country that could make JJ/JL play any better? If so then LSU should be all over them right now.

No one is talking about our Line Coach, but there has to be someone better out there.
The Lines got progressively worse as the season went on, with our talent level that shouldnt have happened.

If Miles leaves LSU we all better hope he is replaced by a Top 10 Charasmatic Recruiting Guru or LSU will lose top talent until one is found.

Thats my 2 cents ...feel free to trash it as thats what some here live for.....

we always had real solid QB play while he was here. good offense as well. ive always thought the coaching community was always higher on him than what his results bore out.

question is: why would jimbo come back here? what do we offer florida st cant?

This was a joke right?

maybe we can maximize our 4 star guys instead of getting 5 star guys and wasting them. right now LSU is in a pretty good groove. we should be at or near the top of all kids in louisiana. minimal recruiting in east texas, mississippi, and arkansas should supplement everything louisiana doesnt provide (LBers!!!). its nice to have a big time recruiter like miles, but its not worth it if we arent maximizing the studs we get.
