Of course he would say that. What's he going to say? I had discussions with Arky but then Vandy decided to pay me so I just stayed? LOL

The Franklin rumors don't make sense. CTravis was saying that Franklin turned down $5million/year at Arkansas. He got a raise up to $3million/year at Vandy.

That doesn't pass the smell test. Pretty safe to say Franklin was never offered anything.

The agents for these coaches leak all kinds of rumors and even lies to get their coaches raises. Happens every year with all major openings.

Arky has had this on lockdown for awhile...Letsee..

Wilson & Davis would be heisman finalist - Wrong
Arky vs Bama/LSU would decide the west - Wrong

Gruden/Patterson/Peterson/Miles/Jimmy Johnson/Bill Cowher/Tony Dungy/ Pete Carroll will be our coach cause we are full of awesome - Wrong

Congrats you settled for a 3rd rate coach who brings nothing to the table.

Congrats on setting yourselves up to finish behind Bama LSU and A&M for years to come.

Yeah and we are the delusional ones..

Lots of butt hurt fail here.

So did ESPN and all the Heisman watch lists. We were picked by numerous commentators to be in the BCS champ game. Delusional we may be, but many others shared that delusion.

So these coaches come up for every major search in the country every year, including Tenn and Auburn this year. No one seriously thought we were getting of those old NFL guys, and much of that was trolling.

No you have just gone full retard. Are you seriously saying Miles was better on paper when you hired him? Seriously? This is a wait and see and you know it. Dude has won 68 games in 7 years in the B1G. While that's not the SEC, show me any other coach who has done that recently.

Just a suggestion here, but how about try not constantly trolling if all you're going to do is whine when it gets thrown back in your faces? I swear some of you Arkansas fans are embarrassments.

Not Hogville level embarrassments, but pathetic nonetheless; and no Arkansas is not the only school that has these trollsih fans but we do have more than our fair share.

You're laughing at the notion that Fayetteville/NWA is a great place to live? And you're an LSU fan? Remind me...how many murders/rapes/home invasions in Baton Rouge this year?

Say what you will about Arkansas' program and how it relates to the elite of the SEC, but Fayetteville is an AWESOME place to live. In fact, NUMEROUS national publications have said the same thing. Don't be a hater.

My mistake.

Still makes you look like an arse if you're trying to argue that Fayetteville ISN'T a great place to live. It is.

Let me guess..."It sucks because if you live in Fayetteville you're surrounded by Arkansans! hahahaha! I showed them!"

I'm saying it's not a plus for the job, it's not a drawback either.

But it's certainly no Denver or Miami.

Fayetteville is a place most people universally talk shite about before they actually visit.

Fayetteville is a place most people universally like/love after they actually visit.

Baton Rouge isn't awful, but its a more stressful lifestyle than Fayetteville. It has its unique culture, but amenties in BR and NWA are virtually the same.

NWA in general is like living in the new suburbs of any large city, and Fayetteville in particular is like living in any good college town of similar size, plus outdoors and Wal-Mart money.

Wait, wait, wait...you're saying that the actual TOWN in which he'll be spending 99% of his time isn't a draw for the job? Fayetteville being a great place to live, in your mind, wouldn't play be a contributing factor for someone that's used to living in a place as cool as Madison, WI?

Yeah, I never claimed it was. They represent completely different lifestyles. You laughed that someone said Fayetteville was a great place to live.

No god damnit, I'm saying it's a factor but Fayetteville doesn't exactly pull em in or scare em away. Did you not read what I said?

And I'm saying you're wrong. How many BCS jobs are available right now in Denver? Miami? For a coach, the JOB is what lures them in. A JOB in the SEC is the #1 factor.

You saying that Fayetteville is neither a positive or negative is the utmost in stupidity. It's a great town. Not mediocre. Not okay. It's a great town. Had our university been in f'ing Jonesboro (NOT a great town), I highly doubt we'd keep coaches for very long.

And I'm telling you you're wrong, Fayetteville is not even close to the main reason he took the job

Did I ever claim it was the MAIN reason? No.

True or false: Choctaw said Fayetteville was a great place to live and you laughed at him.

True or false: Laughing in this case could be seen as a disagreement with said phrase.

I think the problem lies in the fact that you underestimate the word "Great"

i.e. better than "pretty good" and "above average"

quote:

Adjective Of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above the normal or average.

I say it's average at best.

I think a lot of folks overestimate the effect that the quality of town has on coaches decisions, whether positive or negative. Most spend almost every hour at the office or on the field.
