Yeah, I am sick of having the #1 or #2 defense in the nation.

Everyone saying no to Jimbo, and I can't say I disagree. BUT, I think one day he'll be a good HC, IF he hires a good OC and doesn't interfere too much.
Think about it, how many of you would want Les as the OC, probably not many, but I think he's a heck of a HC.
I think Jimbo can recruit, and is probably just about ready to run a program. I'm not saying we should hire him, just saying he does have some potential as a HC, IMO.

I know there are coaches out there, but what is the success rate of past head coaches in the NFL in college? Nebraska and Pittsburg may want to argue that point. Many NFL coordinators with major college experience may work, but the names being thrown out don't have much college experience.

What about Steve Mariucci??????? LINK

the only question is if UM offers

if they do, he's gone

If UM wanted Miles why would Carr retire early and put extra pressure on Miles and hinder his chance to do well in the upcoming games? Carr is stayin with the athletic administration so he isn't operating as a free agent, he is doing nothing to help Miles to Michigan and he wouldn't work agaisnt the interest of his employer with their knowledge. They knew about the press conference and its ramifications.

If this was a done deal the resignation would come later not earlier.

Miles isn't going to Michigan, Michigan isn't going to come up with the money LSU will to keep Miles, becasue Carr doesn't want Miles or to see MIles replace him at twice the pay.

I agree with you Carrolton. Miles won't leave because he will have to take a job for potentially less money, leave before the MNC, and not even be able to hire his own assistants for 2 years. The timing and money is all wrong here. O'keefe already said that LSU would do all they can to keep Les here, and I know Michigan has the money, but I don't think they're willing to spend it.

Say you heard it here first... Miles will find a way to lose the Arky game, so all this crap of hide and seek and cat and mouse will abruptly come to an end...

Big J: Was the lady who is Pres. at "M" formerly at the same school as Ferenz/ Ferini? Did she get him a big raise?

Yes, the current president at UM used to be president at Iowa, and she made Ferentz the most highly paid coach in the Big 10 ($2.8 m/yr) when the university feared he would bolt for the NFL.

Michigan will be willing to pay top dollar for a new coach (especially with Coleman at the helm as president), which was proven by the recent Beilein hire from WV as the men's basketball HC.

between Hallman and Dinardo (busted at Miami) and then after Dinardo, and was pretty nasty the second time....he put it on the AD, but he was smirking in the interview. Then we almost hired that same AD.

If the hat bolts, what is the max. you see LSU coming up with to lure any big time coach? Does LSU hit the 4 mil. mark or higher?

The way I see this is if UM(and Carr) wanted Les they would have cooperated with Les' timing in not announcing Carr's retirement at this point. Les, of course, understands this and is reacting predictably and showing loyalty to us, as his adopted home. Witness the press conference today. I see today's events as a F. U. to Michigan and Carr since they dissed him by saying, in effect, we don't want you and don't respect your accomplishments. Anyone care to argue with this? I, for one am happy the Michigan people are too stupid to play a smarter hand; but, then again look at their results lately.

If that was the case he could end it now. Saying thanks but no thanks. And I'm not going. But you didn't hear that. Mabey leveraging more money, but c'mon he's mulling this over.
