spoke with someone high up, the didn't announce the stadium because they did not want it to detract from the hire, announcement coming within the month

it's a done deal. Kaare's report is accurate down to the location

I am happy about this hire BUT that could have been the worst press conference to announce a coach that I have ever heard. Just terrible.

I just went to some Tulane boards.

For being "smart", they are some real idiots.

They are bashing this hire like crazy and are pissed. Saying what an unprofessional presser it was, saying he's not a good speaker and will fail.

Someone told me there would be a reaction like this if Tulane hired a black head coach. I blew it off, but there might be some truth to it. Unreal.

I agree the press conference was rough. With that said, I've heard Curtis speak at a quaterback club meeting before and he was alot better. Guy was probably nervous as hell.

I moderate one of our boards.

To say that my patience with many of our fans is wearing thin would be a drastic understatement.

Yogwf is ok, I guess. There are at least SOME posters that are fine.

GoTula is a shithole that might be on par with the Rant.

he was nervous but if you were there to see it, it was very good

he said the right things. I don't care if he has trouble with expedient vs expeditious...guy is bright and he will win

How many CUSA press conferences feautre NFL players, coaches, and G.M's

How many CUSA coaches have a super bowl ring and a national championship ring

guy was the perfect hire and I am pumped. I know the players are as well.

This is a new era in Tulane athletics

That place is horrible. Don't even get me started on it and the people who started it.

anyone who bashes this hire needs a reality check...Tulane just got a slam dunk hire. This guy has coached on both levels and his resume is impeccable.

any Tulane alum, or fan should be elated with this hire

the banhammer on the tulane boards...i don't visit those sites, but I'm actually shocked that any students, faculty or alumni would badmouth this hire...it is a slam dunk and tulane is in an advantageous position to compete at a high level in CUSA. The only entities that should be upset with this hire should be Tulsa, UH, and Southern Miss

If you want a good Tulane board, please stay as far away from gotula.net. Biggest group of cry babies on the web. It is run by a father and son duo who no one likes. Even though it's not my favorite, visit the yogwf or thewavereport.com

GoTula makes me want to kill myself just about every time I read it. 90% of the posts are negative, hell they have a group on there who think Rick Jones needs to be fired.
Yogwf is better, but could definitely be improved. Posts get deleted and people get banned too easily

Also A lot of Tulane fans had unrealistic expectations for the new coach. I think that's why most don't like the hire not because he's black although there are a few of those I'm sure.

I think the world of curtis johnson, I just wonder about his resume as it appears he's never been more than a receivers coach although he has been very involved with recruiting. So he should recruit well, has no head coaching experience nor coordinating experience. Obviously the type of staff hires he makes will go a long ways in his success as a head coach IMO.

Feast or famine here.

He could do well or turn out to be another Larry Porter type that's NOT qualified to be a major college head coach from an organizational stand point. Great recruiters don't necessarily make great head coaches. There's just too many other variables involved in being a successful head coach.

Yea they actually believe they control certain aspects of how Tulane does things. Just read the posts and sit back and laugh.
