And if you're going to hang your hat on the "talent" argument...Isn't it the job of the HC to get the talent to his school?

I never said Les was a bad recruiter, Yes, it is the job of the HC to get the talent to the school, but he must coach that talent and not lose to unranked teams when playing for a national championship Our schedule this year is much more favorable than last years and we still went 10 and 2. If we went into triple overtime against Florida or VT, that would be more acceptable than triple ot against Arkansas at home. Go figure that brainchild!!

OK...
Let me try to follow your Logic...

Les is an unacceptable coach because we went into triple Overtime against Arkansas instead of VT (which would have been more acceptable, according to you)

Yet Les coached LSU to a 48-7 stomping of VT and doesn't get points for that?

Arkansas is a talented 8-4 SEC team that had injury problems early on and very possibly the next Heisman winner.

Do I like losing the game, NO...but does it mean Miles can't coach, NO!

A lot of people think Nick Saban walks on water and is gods gift to coaching...he dropped one to UAB at LSU and just dropped one to ULM at Bama. Does that mean he's not a good coach? He's the same guy that got us the BCS NC!

NEWFLASH!!! You can't win them all...no matter who your coach is!

Brainchild OUT!

How much football do you watch? Auburn went undefeated a few years back. It can be done, and we should have done it. Ok Les, you are out. Don't get your feelings hurt.

Jesus Christ himself was coaching the tigers...and I'm pretty sure he's not available for the job.

Probably not available. However, definitely not aggressive enough on defense. His last "defense" did not turn out very well, although he may be a shade better than Lou Tepper.

Miles will not get the offer. It will either be ferentz or kelly. ferentz is a real good coach. Iowa is a shite hole for football. No talent in state and impossible to recruit against the big dogs in not only the big 10 but the big 12 also. The fact he is bowl eligible every year is amazing.

"a few years back" being the key term...

and LSU may go undefeated, a few years from now!

I didn't mean you can't win them all in a season, I meant you can't win them all...all the time!

One magical season, yeah...it's possible, but not the norm.

I'm suggesting that just because you think "it should have happened", and "it didn't"....may not be solid grounds for canning the HC.

How many times in the last 20 years has an SEC team gone undefeated?

Possible, YES...but pretty ridiculous to use as a benchmark of acceptability!

Carr doesn't like miles and he will have a lot of input as to who the next coach is.

Hopefully Lombardi and O'keafe have already contacted current head coaches to gauge their interest.

I read somewhere that Spurrier flew to BR recently.

I would ask the question - does Miles even get the call from Michigan? I would say no. The only good thing that came out of yesterday's debacle is now Skip has leverage in contract negotiations. He can tell Miles to kiss his arse as he is not getting a raise or an extension.

Absolutely. Miles is gone. Yesterday made that certain. As far as I am concerned we need to clean house, get rid of Crowton, Pelini and Miles and get coaches who are organized and can motivate and prepare a team. Yesterday they were anything but prepared and motivated.

We are 10-2 and about to play for an SEC championship. Let's clean house and see who's willing to come to BR to try and live up to your standards.

doesn't anybody appreciate the injuries on D? Do we miss our two first round receivers? I'm not saying Les is a genius but most of these posters on here have ridiculous expectations ...we have 2 MNC's in a hundred years so they expect it every year or our coaches are idiots....amazing

I don't know if MI calls Miles or not, but I think its a win/win situation for us either way. If MI does call, then we have the luxury of cherry picking from some of the best coaches in the country...and I think Skip and company will be very careful to do just that. If MI does not call, then we still have a coach with character and credibility, who also is a great recruiter and evaluator of talent (re: the star rating system sucks). That counts a lot with me. Those who want Miles out because he lost 2 games are "hurting" because we blew what seemed to be an excellent opportunity for the MNC. But we've got to remember, at the end of the day, we want a program that is on solid ground, with good management, and a bright future.
Parity does exist in the SEC, and in all of college football nowadays. Any SEC team that goes undefeated either had a lot of luck (including escaping multiple key player injuries) or played a cupcake schedule. And that goes for FLA next year, even with Tebow and company.
Miles may not be the best "game day" manager and strategist, but his players are loyal, and that means good leadership. Football players need someone to mentor them for when their playing days are over, and Miles is a good man for that job...and that means more to me than an ocassional MNC.
