Seems like the perfect fit with our problems in the secondary.

all right, substantive NFL experience. good. Defenses rank well. MIght not be a bad choice.
We could pay more than UCLA and he knows it would be a chance to really prove himself.

Hes a real possibility, he has a coaching history with Miles I believe.

Pass defense ranks great. Rushing and scoring defense, not so much.

Exactly, and no SEC familiarity. This guy isn't the answer for LSU, in fact I'd dare say he would be a mistake.
Chavis, Johnson, Nix,etc..all better fits for LSU.
Anyone watch the BYU-UCLA games the past two years?

Chavis D 2nd in the SEC.2008 Tenn consistently in the top 10 nationaly in defense 2006 asst. coach of the year.
By far best canidate.
Tunueta also had a top 15 defense.
top 30 doesn't cut it.

How much SEC familiarity did Saban have?
I'd say the tendency to not blitz and play soft zones means more than the conference. If he's smart, he'll figure it out REAL quick.

Nobody that watched the UCLA-BYU games from the last two seasons, all 8 quarters, would let Walker within 1000 miles of LSU DC.
Outside of his NFL experience, we're talking about an Pac-10 defensive expertise man, one that has a team allowing near 30 PPG this year.
Les has already done a great job of changing LSU into Okie State(high scoring shootouts in which the last team that scores..wins) in terms of defensive allowances since his arrival, and on his tenure graph charts, thus I won't be surprised if he chooses Walker over Chavis, Johnson, Nix. He hasn't exactly done well where his handprint is on the Offense, thus I have far less faith when it's on the defense.
And Saban had MSU playing some solid D, up to their talent limitations for the most part, and had those fierce Browns teams in the early nineties, albeit with Belichik there.

Pudgy hurt Sr Vincent(maybe the 3rd best RB on the team?) into 8-in-the-box all day at Aub '06..Miles said he thought they'd break one eventually. Meanwhile JR was working Powers and the Frosh DB from NoLa all day when put in the Shotgun, instead of under Center vs a crowded LOS showing blitz, then running to the sidelines for his live when the pocket was outnumbered and collapsed.
LSU goes conservative down the stretch vs Ark '08..clearly not Crowton..and rumblings coming out of Tigertown via Songy, players, and those close to the teamm, all substantiate some playcall medling.

You have ZERO clue about what you are talking about...

Tell me that Fischer had total authority that day at Auburn..or Crowton called this last game exactly the way it was.
Tell me wise one!

You think Okie State's offenses were conservative when Miles was there? Even remotely?

Have you seen his playcalling at FSU these past few years? ..
Posted on 12/4/08 at 11:30 pm to HOUbengal
Hell no they weren't, their Defenses were far too inept to be so. I watched quite a few of their games when Miles was there. It was much like LSU 2007 and 2008, if they were to win, it was due to the Offense scoring late to win by a whisker..see a similarity?
And not just against superior teams like rival OU, or those Texas game halftime leads that become epic El-Foldos!

You didn't answer my question, and yes Fisher sucked and was predictable, I never was a fan as OC, except for his decent and arguably overated QB coaching. And think FSU foolish to have gave him that 2M C-I-W buyout clause, which I expect them to probably use.

He must have been taking a nap in our last three bowl games that were blowouts.
