My sources say Texas is pissed that Mack is backing out of a deal to resign. And it may get ugly for him.

Is that unreasonable?
You know, honestly, coaches already make a bundle. 10-15 million a year would be like winning a respectable lottery every year.

Then they need to nut up and fire him. They wanna be ballers, they better start acting like it.,

Bill Battle has a blank check with Nick Saban's name on it
Then why hasn't nick signed the contract extension?
You guys are too much

cause bama needs a formal offer to counter.

Because there has not been an official Texas offer for Alabama to counter. When Mack steps down, and Texas really lays out the contract details, then we will see what Bama has to pay him.

So there's no offer from Texas
So there's no offer to match yet
Once there is, we will
We've been over this

People jumped all on my arse yesterday when I pointed out that Powers staying could be good for Mack.

Jesus, the way some of you people are talking, it's like as though Saban will be offered somewhere in the 200-500 million a year range.
So very, very rustled. He is for sale. If they want him, Texas knows the number. It is a number that Bama either can't or won't match.
I know that has to chip away at the image you have, but it is what it is. Sexton didn't wake up last week and sketch this scheme out on a napkin. He laid this out for Nick about 2 years ago (and I had no specifics on the bad business deals, just that he had lost "some" money).
They are positioned PERFECTLY - they get maximum that Bama is willing to pay (looks to be in the 7 to 8 million range), or pull up stakes for what looks to be 8 1/2 to 10 million at Texas.
Ridiculous money, but it is what it is.
(And, no he doesn't care about Bama football tradition....at all.)

Your hope is amazing.

Because Texas likely hasn't made him a concrete offer yet due to them still having a coach, and he's holding out to see what the Texas offer looks like. We covered this shite pages ago.

What contract? The one he signed 8 months ago? Or the one only Finebaum knows about?
Posted on 12/13/13 at 2:59 pm to JuiceTerry
Mack is still around for the same reason Bobby Bowden lingered for too long...same for Joe Paterno... They all had/have friends in high places.

Who has even claimed this?

I agree with you 100%. My question is whether that number is within the realm of reality.

Nick will not sign AL contract until he sees the official offer from UT- once he has that then they see what AL will counter with- Nick will make his decision
I cannot get out of my head the fact that Terry said they are not appreciated/taken for granted- Appreciation is the highest on the motivation scale- higher that money- Nick has a lot of money
AL needs to poney up top dollar and find a way to truly convince Nick the appreciate him and he will go down in AL history greater than the Bear- if they cannot do that- then they may be fighting a battle they cannot win
