Doesn't Saban generally hate dealing with the media? Does anyone think that he would accept a job where he has to host TV shows and tape his practices? The LHN will be a big hurdle to overcome for some coaches, particularly after Mack came out and said that he thinks it is affecting his team.

If Texas could offer 7 or million/year? You think dealing with the LHN would keep him from that or any coach for that matter? Open that brain up cuz

All insider message board speculation but supposedly when WM left for FLA, there were "rumors" that he had been interviewing during the season, a big dust up between his wife and Sally Brown and a big scene in which he barged in to Mack's office and cussed him out while some big donors were there. Stuff to make it seem like WM wasn't capable of running a big time program - remember, he was the HCIW at the time. I think WM felt that he was lied to a bit when Mack didn't step down in 2009.

Some of that stuff was later said to be way overblown by a particular group of boosters who are most supportive of Mack and never wanted him to step down (due to the access they get to the program with Mack and would not have gotten through WM). Manny was not Texas's first offer at DC I believe and a couple others turned us down first. However, the message especially through "leaks" from these booster was that we were so happy to have Manny because he was better than WM. That's obviously wrong.

This is just stuff I've pieced together from internet talk that seems to have been confirmed multiple places plus some things I've heard in Austin. I am by no means 100% sure of all of it.

Muschamp's crazy but a good guy. He was my first choice to replace Miles if Miles had gone to Michigan.

Call me crazy but I think they would entertain the idea of Petrino.

Pathetic excuse is all that is. Mack does one extra show. His other show is the regular radio interview weekly that he has always done - they just stuck a camera in there now. Only individual segments (and some group) of practice are taped and shown - 2 days a week. They don't film Thursday or Friday practices.

And if you've ever heard the softballs that Austin media lobs to Mack, Saban would be salivating. He'd run roughshod over the media here, who are too afraid to lose their precious access to ask a difficult question. "Mack, even though your team lost to TCU, talk about how great it was to play an old SWC foe."
makes me want to puke - I had to stop listening to them this year.

Petrino will never happen here - fairly common knowledge that we were looking at a certain ex-The U coach at DC and he was suddenly never mentioned again. Apparently some indiscretions of an out-of-wedlock variety came up in the background check. And that was that.

Certainly y'all didn't pass on a good coach for having some sex. Petrino didn't get fired for sex but for the way he handled it with the administration.

Good football coaches should be cut some slack on sex

If it's producing multiple offspring that allegedly aren't being cared for, apparently we do.

Nick Saban would be the first coach ever to win not only National Titles at two schools but three...Recruit the state of Texas and be done before Spring and still have a top 5 class year end and year out...Texas has the money and word is Saban and his wife love the scenery south of Austin.. Saban's ego is "TOO BIG" to say no...

The choice is pretty simple, keep dealing with Gumps or deal with Austinites.

Muschamp would have been more popular in Texas than Mack Brown ever was. He's a tough guy. How can you not like the guy?

I cannot help but comment on the fact that Alabama fans think Texas is their equal, this is such a delusion! I cannot remember who mentioned that fact that Texas is the superior job in the country and anyone with any working knowledge for CFB knows this. Texas could easily offer Saban 10m a year (most likely wouldn't) and Alabama would stand their with a blank stare on their face(s). Gosh, Gumps find a way to tick me off each day...

On Saban: I do think it would be hard to leave a school that has already put a statue up of you. Bama fans say he wouldn't leave and fans of other schools say he will that is obvious so far

Would Kirby Smart get a look? I feel like his name is brought up for every SEC job that opens up.
