one thing to look at...arkansas didn't exactly not tear us up last year also
I'd buy that if Arkansas had been our only bad game this year. But it wasn't. We sleepwalked through every freaking game since Tulane.

with saban we were always rebuilding the year after w/ miles lsu is set for the next 4 years. he has set lsu up to be natl title contenders for years, saban or no other coach has done that. b/c of him lsu has finally been recognized by the media, even after winning the natl. title saban couldn't manage that...do you want me to go on.

quote:yes, bc the rest of what you posted is kinda retarded, no offense. if anything, SABAN set up this program to be consistent winners.
do you want me to go on.

Please do. So far, you've mentioned that he beat who he was supposed to beat and he's a good recruiter. That's 2. Although I'd argue that Saban was a MUCH better talent evaluator and recruiter than Miles has been, but I'll give it to you for the sake of the argument.

Be on the Hot Seat here at LSU next year? Maybe not officially, but in the eyes of many fans?
'Officially' on the hot seat? Not sure what that means.
He's been on the hot seat since he got here.
My personal opinion is that his play has gotten more and more aggressive and peaked with the Auburn game. We were getting great results at that time. A close win over Florida is no small accomplishment. And we almost always play Auburn close no matter how good each school is, so it was expected to be a close game.
Then people started bitching about the 1 second thing, and I think it got blown way out of proportion - and I noticed after that Les got less aggressive. This led to close games and OT losses to teams we should have easily beaten.
Case in point - the Les Miles that was coaching the Florida game would have gone for it on 4th and 2 on the Arkansas 40 at the start of the 2nd half. The Les that coached the Florida game would have also gone for two points when we scored our last TD in regulation, with 47 second left, and settled it right then and there. And if he would have missed, he would have pulled off some crazy arse onside kick. But the game would have never gotten to that point if he had played it aggressively the whole way through.
If he returns to the aggressive style of coaching he exhibited in the Auburn and previous games, then i think he should stay here till he retires. If he wants to play like an overly conservative wimp like he did in his first and last losses in Tiger Stadium, then maybe he should go to Michigan.
IMO we'll see a return to his aggressive style. If the Les that coached the Florida game - Stone Cold Brass Balls The Hat Les - is the Les that coaches the last two games and next year and for years later - then we couldn't ask for more.

didn't saban keep this cupboard absolutely stocked with talent? miles just kept the momentum going.
Posted on 11/27/07 at 1:46 pm to dland29
saban didn't coach those players miles did...saban didn't set up anything miles made lsu nationally known not saban..like i said saban couldn't get lsu media attention even after the natl. title. miles did that w/o a title

You've said 2 things and reworded it a bunch of ways to make it look like you said more than you did.
1. He beat who he was supposed to
2. He recruited well
That's hardly grounds for being the builder of a dynasty.

so your'e saying saban wouldn't have LSU in the same position had he been allowed to keep recruiting depth?

wow, talk about going off on a different tangent, so you're basically giving saban zero credit for setting up LSU's success?
cox building, football ops center, etc...that wasn't a setup for continued football success at LSU?
no shite saban didn't coach these players up, but he did recruit them, hence SABAN TALENT that the national media is screaming.
if anything, when you say media attention that miles has brought to LSU, it's certainly a different type of media attention...the type that says that miles has continually underperformed with ultra talented teams.

you mean when he hadn't built up the program yet? how is that his fault?
should he have gotten the NCAA to allow him to recruit 40 guys a year?
