Auburn fans spin like no other. When bad things happen to LSU we turn on each other, but at least we call a spade a spade.

Mid-major? From the Auburn comments you'd think that Arky State was on the cusp of getting an SEC invite.

It's not that. It's he is taking over a team that can win their conference. He is taking over a team that can have a wining season. He is going to a school that could be used as a steping stone. are any of these things that happen at Vandy
He is also going to an area that he has been very good in recruiting and it is home turf.
It seems like a great fit, personally. yes he is taking a pay cut but still making 850k a year and with only a few years out of HS, I would say is pretty damn good if you ask me for a football coach.

I'm talking about the people who were saying the Arky state job is better than Vandy and Colorado State

I would say it is a better job for him as in a better fit for where he wants to go and do.

Last year he turned down Vandy because he believed he could get a better job, promised Chizik 3 years, and did not want to be a distraction during the NC run..
"He believed he could get a better job"-OK, apparently he was wrong
Everything just sounds made up....so he promised him 3 years and just decided at the end of the 3 years, "I'll go coach at my best offer at the end while totally ignoring good offers in between." Keep in mind last year he knew Cam was leaving and knew it probably wasn't going to get any better than this.
Food for thought Auburn Fans: If Chavis was offered the head coaching job at an SEC/ACC school and declined. Then the next year, was offered a job at Middle Tennessee State, took it for.....wait, wait (this is the best part)...A PAY CUT! You wouldn't think it was a sign of whats ahead in the tracks for LSU

Arkie state is NOT as good as Colorado State or Kansas... Not so sure about Vandy, please tell me the last person to turn a career at Vandy into a bigger job? I know of one in 50 years... LSU should remember Dinardo...

Some have also said its better than the Colorado State job.
By all means explain to me how Co State is a better job then Arky St? I'll wait for your answer.
ETA: In terms of advancing ones career and recruting. As I will give CSU has more money and can pay better.

gosh, you really believe this crap you are spewing? think about this, he takes over this so called job because he can win and use it as a steping stone. The prior coach just stepped up the stone to ole miss. Vandy beat the living crap out of them this year. Vandy is going to a bowl. They aren't.
Vandy is a program he turned down. So now he wants to go to a program that he can use to get to another program the caliber of the one he turned down?
i guess he couldn't have won like franklin did at vandy? however, he can win like freeze at ark st?
if he stays at AU and has more success, he could have got to a major program just like stoops, muschamp, jimbo, richt, ect.
there is more to this story. You don't cost your family a 1/2 million a year because of a promise. If that is the case, then the chiz should respect him and keep him another year for his loyalty last year.

So coaching at ASU, the only possible step is Ole Miss?
the guy is young for a coach and is making more than many at his age. it is also a great fit for him as a coach.

See you are missing my argument. You ad others are saying how terrible Gus is for passing Vandy. Explain to me how that is such a bad thing? Historically speaking and specifically speaking how many coaches since Gerry D have made it out of there to bigger programs?
