Regardless Sexton will play PSU/UT against Bama.

Absolutely. Any of the UT, ATM, or PSU HC jobs, if still open over the next forty days, will cost Mal and his Bama cronies, a raise to the already highest paid HC.

All are heavyweights, all with deep coffers, all needing an elite HC to get them back to the top.

PSU hasn never gotten past OSU or Mich with any consistency since Big-10 arrival.

Mack can't consistently best OU or win natty hardware to match the levels of UT talent.

ATM doesn't maximize their talent-base nor war-chest alumni..

All make for very plausible bluffs by Sexton for a raise, when CNS has flirted with an unbeaten season 3 of the last 4 years, is in the running for a 2nd BCS crown in 3 seasons. And his personal 3rd in a mere 8 seasons..2 of which he wasn't a college coach.

Regardless, you don't leave a place for another job when you're about to play for a national title. Nevermind his second in three years. Brian Kelly doesn't take the Notre Dame job if Nebraska beats Texas, possibly sending Cincinnati to Pasadena.

Just wait till sexton informs the gumps $aban will leave them high n dry in the 2011 NC game if they don't pony up with the bucks! Literally holding bama's dreams of a NC this year for ransom!

They did it to us during BCS prep in 2003 after the SEC-CG - Saban was meeting with an NFL team then, and had Sexton working everybody. I don't think he was serious that year, but he put on a good show.

Mack isn't retiring if Texas is not in talks with someone.

The Saban smoke last week seems more plausible now. I would not be in the least surprised if Saban is courted by Texas. Not saying he would go, but I bet they make a move.

They were talking about it on the radio here in Montgomery the last couple of days. There is smoke . . .

But, but, but...the national mayor's meeting guys said Tuscaloosa was more "livable". I mean, they even said it was as "livable" as (wait for it) TALLAHASSEE FLORIDA!!

I'd make every good, established CFB coach turn me down if i were texas. call nick call gary call les hell even call stoops just to piss off OU coaching at a place like texas is more about being an effective administrator rather than being a genius on one side of the ball or the other.

I'm fine with all of this, just don't call BP. This is the one school that could take him away, money will not be an issue. Hell, ESPN will probably kick in a Mill or 2 to help out the cause

I'm not trying to start sh!t. But, even with the saucy drinker and mouth that is Augie Garrido in Austin..he already a kingpin with hardware in-tow when hired(like a Saban)..

I feel Dodds would want Saban, despite some of his ways and words, but not Petrino..just my opinion.

Don't think Texas would hire CBP, despite his excellent skillset as a HC/OC..just doesn't have the type presence and personality for a job of such grandiosity. Think he would be a 3rd, 4th, or 5th option for UT at best.

I agree. His behavior last Friday (and the performance of his team) should mean that Arky won't have to go coach-shopping too soon.

After last Friday CBP is stuck Ark. no reputable institution wants that type of negative PR. I am still amazed Univ of Ark hasn't forced a public apology. CBP has some real anger management/social issues.

I firmly believe he's underacheiving at Texas, despite the fact he's doing better than the guys before him.

If he does retire, Texas is easily the best availabe job. I'm interested to see who they would go after and eventually get.
