I do know every OC has a first year. I think BG absolutely should get his first year, but not at LSU in 2011. Too much is at stake.
I don't know that he hasn't done it in practice (which covers some of the demonstrated capabilities that I listed but not all of them. But I haven't heard that he has done so either.
Understand that I'm not arguing why he shuldn't get the opportunity. I'm arguing why I don't believe Mile will give him the opportunity. He may be able to bring in a seasoned OC who lat BG take on more of the role and act as a backstop. He could go to a mid-major school and prove himself in one year, or act as an apprentice at LSU under a veteran DC for two years.
I don't know what a passing game coordinator does or what a red zone coordinator does, but it sounds like they get to use part of the game plan and some of the plays against some of the defenses you see in specific game situations, and call from a limited list of plays. This is a nice exercise but it sounds to me that if involved far less coordination of the offense than running the whole thing.

He is the candidate with the most sec experience and did a good job tailoring the offense to the personel in a short amount of time.

Also, if you promote him you could add another excellent recruiter to the staff at a lesser position.

I am just providing positives for him. Does not mean I think he is the best selection.
