Gundy is a joke. It's Les Miles 2.0
Following the same pattern. A moderate amount of success at a second rate school.
Mike gundy:
103–49 at OSU
63-38 in conference
Les Miles:
28-21 at OSU
16-16 in conference
Sure...same guy. You're ridiculous and uninformed. You were probably all in on O too.

I'm for aranda over any of them. Doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot just the man I like but don't think he has a chance

Gundy will keep the Louisana to Bama recruiting connection wide open.
I'll grant he's a better offensive coach than Les was at OSU. And he's had more success at OSU.
Frank Wilson has UTSA in bowl contention in his first year at a program that's been in existence for 5 years. He'd lock NOLA up. I always thought he had the best eye for talent on staff. He was the reason Mathieu got the LSU offer among many other players.
I'd prefer to give him a three year incentive based contract we could easily cut ties with if he failed at this point over hiring some guy who will do what Les did. He'll win 9 games. Beat most teams we should be. Then he'll lose to Bama and the rotating decent teams in our conference.
I think Frank has a higher ceiling than Gundy.

He's had months to get Herman on board
Herman wasn't committing to anyone after Les got whacked. He had to let things play out this season at UH, get through the Louisville game, see what happened at UT, Oregon etc to learn more about his options.
He'll let the offers pile up and then make a decision soon. And it will more than likely NOT be LSU.

quote:and Frank would shut it down somehow? By now you should realize that there's no way to completely shut off the LA faucet to Bama, not now, not while saban is still coaching. Frank was on staff when we whiffed on some huge guys in-state, that would not stop with Frank as the head coach.
Gundy will keep the Louisana to Bama recruiting connection wide open.

All candidates have strengths and weaknesses, and if we are looking only at the best available candidates, Gundy is near the top of the list considering Alleva's criteria for an LSU coach. He is a great offensive mind and has been successful at a school and an area with an inherent recruiting disadvantage. His defenses have been subpar, but so has just about every defense in the Big 12. Charlie Strong is a great defensive mind and had a hard time fielding a decent defense in the Big 12. Also, Gundy seems to be a high character guy sticking up for that player in connection with his "I'm a man" rant. He's also an alpha guy, which I think is needed as a head coach. Behind Fisher, I don't think you will find a more qualified head coach for LSU.

Gundy would be pretty damn good at LSU. I realize he isn't the splash hire that fisher or Herman would be but nothing to complain about.
