#2: Arkansas fans wanted O.C. Malzahn and something had to go bad wrong to lose him to Tulsa and then lose Mitch Mustain and Mustains right hand man reciever from Springdale H.S, after one damn season. I could write forever, but alot of shady events surrounded this whole fallout, and it looked bad on Nutt. It appeared that he went and hired the guy just to get his high school standout players; Malzahn was never given any real say on the offense so he told Nutt and UA to kiss his arse.
Right because it wouldve been the smart thing to implement Malzahns gimmic offense while you have Mcfadden and Jones on the roster. The bottom line was all the springdale kids were whiny little bitches that didnt get their way and all most hog fans saw was #1 recruit in the country transfering. Because of this they automatically blamed Nutt. Maybe, just maybe Nutt was upfront with Malzahn and said something like 'after the 07 season we will implement your offense, until then we will use it here and there because we have the best running back/combo in the nation.' Bottom line was all the springdale kids were momma boys that didnt get their way. This divided the fanbase and was the #1 reason why Nutt wanted out.

I agree. I was glad to see the players go.
But c'mon, its just a little shady to hire somebody and lie to him about how much say he would have over the offense, just to get his high school standouts.
I'm talking about character here. It showed poor character. It was the only way Nutt was going to get those kids and BOY it worked out well didn't it.
Again, I'm glad those guys are gone but it damaged Nutts appearance to the fan base. And of course haters always fail to recall that Mustain went 7-0 as the starting QB, before getting demoted for Casey shitDick.

Kiss off. He's terrible. You blame his HORRIBLE arm on the OC's?
LOL.
Bad luck my arse. He can't throw and makes bad decisions in the pocket.
No OC is going to change that.

2 hog fans arguing on lsu's board. Interesting.

Ok well... I thought he performed well the last few games and his WR troubles didn't help. We'll see...

Hiring within the conference IS dangerous.

It doesn't really matter who your recievers are if you throw 6 feet behind them.....or maybe thats just from my seat in the nosebleeds.
What do you think about Dick, Pioneer?

Like him at Arkansas or not, this is a HUGE upgrade for Ole Miss. Nutt >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Orgeron.

The funny thing is he turned the LSU job down before Miles was hired!

Hear me out. First, nobody knows what was said between Nutt and Malzan as far as how much control he would have over the offense. If Gus thought that they would implement his offense immediately and run it exclusivly with Mcfadden and Jones on the team then Gus is the idiot. His offense makes Texas Techs look traditional. Its a gimmick high school offense that will NEVER work in a major conference.

You might be right, it was the only way he was going to get the springdale kids. BUT, was hiring Malzan to land the kids really up to Nutt? Broyles was the one that all the mommas were running to when their little babies werent catching the ball 15 times a game or throwing 55 passes per game. In my opinion, Broyles orchestrated it all. If not, why did the mommas run to him first? Second, Broyles and Nutt to some extent saw NOT landing the sprindale kids as major disappointment within the fan base. All the while knowing that Mcfadden had just come off the best freshman season in SEC history. Nutt knew what his offense was going to be centered around for the next 2 years. If Gus/Mustain/Momma's didnt think so, they are the fools. Despite what might have been said to them. With all that said, whoever was behind hiring Malzaln (however you spell his name) rather it was Nutt or Broyles, they gave the guy a HUGE career promotion. He went from a high school coach directly to a DIV 1 offensive coordinator. My opinion, Broyles was behind it all.
And you are correct, this whole fiasco ruined Nutts appearance to the fan base

Please post about the emails. Please post about the players meeting. Post about all the text messages nutt sent yet he couldn't send ONE to kodi burns or lee ziemba. Sounds like your a hugger to me. Nutt did this to himself. It wasn't the springdale people that asked a player to postpone a grandfathers funeral so he play against vandy.

Look I am just posting from the outside looking in. Its one big soap opera and what you are talking about: emails/text messages ext. ext. just adds to the storyline.
The bottom line here is this whole situation hurt Nutts image to alot of hog faithful. You are an Arkansas fan so I will ask you, would you rather have an 2006 SEC Western Division Championship or an average season running some gimmick offense while you have 2 all american running backs on the team, just to keep a few kids and mommas from springdale happy? Its that simple.

Malzahn was supposed to simply add a dimension to the offense. I don't think he planned on running his Springdale High offense at UA.
It turns out he didn't get to add anything at all. All you had to do was watch the sideline to see that he was a lame duck OC.
Did pretty well at Tulsa though.

Of course I'm not an Arkansas fan so I didnt watch every game but the few that I did see, especially early in the season I could see his influence. I just think after a few games Nutt realized his best opportunity to win was run, run and run some more. Turned out pretty well...

Yet nutt is somewhere around 21-16 with mcfadden and jones. I don't call the forward pass a gimmicky offense. Yes, we had mcfadden and jones but your still going to have to pass to keep the defense from stacking 8,9,10 guys in the box. I know its cusa but tulsa does have the #1 offense in the nation.

Nutt has never been a big fan of moving the ball vertically down the field. He belongs with Mack Browns program.

Clint Stoerner holds nearly every passing record in the Arkansas books. Seems to me that Nutt suits his offense to fit his talent.
