not really scared of petrino, he couldn't win the big east with all the talent he had last year. and arky is losing alot of talent this year.
i don't really see why LSU fans would feel intimidated. he's a good coach, but he's definitely an offensive guy and arky's offense has already been a load the past few years. they'll improve, but i think the only team in the West that has the potential to challenge LSU as the dominant program in the coming years is Bama

Arkansas has more money than most, an entire state behind it, the best facilities in the SEC, and do not confuse yourself into thinking that "lil ole' Arkansas can't get talent."
I'm not trying to get into an argument about Tyson Chicken/Wal-mart, facilities, etc. The program is a mess, or people wouldn't be rejecting Arkansas for the likes of Wake Forest and Clemson. Just trying to understand why a guy who one would think would be the hottest commodity on the market would take a job Tommy Bowden wanted nothing to do with. It's a serious question, not just a jab at Arkansas. Did they offer him that much money, that much autonomy????

Wow--another college coach tries the pros and realizes he had it better. This doesn't speak well of the NFL, IMO. I'm a big NFL fan, too, and this just looks bad for them.

Because coaches from the South are too smart to lower themselves by coaching in the north.

How can ANY conference argue against our strength anymore??? No debate at all...this is going to be a very interesting next 5 years if Petrino is really coming!!

Bill King was just reading a post from an admin on Arkansas Rivals site saying that Petrino turned it down last night, then they looked to Muschamp, but then Petrino had a change of heart and called them back and accepted it. Supposed to be on a plane to Fayette-Nam now.
I believe at some point in the pst 24 hours that Muschamp was their guy. It just goes to show how fluid these things can be.

Sexton has a lot of pulling power i'm interested to hear which coaches really turned us down.

I qm not sure the program is a Mess". I think the Nutt saga was a soap opera. But it doesnt appear to me that the Arkansas program is a mess.

What if horrors Arkansas starts to get more agressive in Shreveport and Monroe
How far is Fayetteville from Shreveport or Monroe?

Someone please explain why he would leave to go to Arkansas.
Part the first; Why leave the Falcons
The Falcons are a shite hole. They have no QB at all, half the players have terrible attitudes(Deangelo Hall, Roddy White). Their best receiver is a TE who is pissed his friend got sent to prison. Their best player in the front 7 got released to free agency a year or two ago.
I think that about sums it up
Why Arky?
Great conference, decent recruiting, good facilities. I would have taken the Michigan job, but I think this is a better geographical fit for him

I'm pretty sure Rich Brooks took Oregon to the Rose Bowl.....although the Rose wasn't part of the BCS at the time

It doesn't really bother me either but I just don't think a guy like Petrino was needed at LSU when Saban left.

I don't remember the exact distances, but its not particularly closer than LSU. Not to mention Don Shows the HC of the big school in the Monroe area(West Monroe high) likes LSU.

I'd say Fayette-Nam is about 7-8 hours away, maybe.

petrino didn't really get bluechippers while at Louisville. he coaches them up and turns 3 star guys into 5 stars.
