Think Mitch Mustain is kicking himself right now? Petrino loves to gun the ball all over the field, ala Malzahn, and Mitch is out west trying to beat out Mark Sanchez. WOW.

Probably not. I doubt petrino's wife is sending emails wishing to beat his mom up with a 2x4. I spoke with some usc posters and some think he would be starting next year over sanchez.

I think mitch will be the man next year at USC. Evidentally he has done quite well in practices against the first team SC defense. It is a real shame he won't get to be mentored by a true Qb guru like Petrino, but Mitch had to get out of Fayetteville when Nutt was there.

No, I don't think so. May have to do with the fact that
1) His coach's wife and friends partook in the harassment of his family,
2) Mustain leaving was what tipped the scales and turned those on the fence against Nutt. Had he stayed, Nutt probably would never have left, and
3) He will most likely be named the starting QB at USC in 2008 with three years of eligibility remaining and a great chance at winning a national title in his college career.

Dammit, this sucks. Why couldn't y'all keep Nutt?

Petrino is exactly what Michigan needed. A good recruiting coach who will open up offenses and bring speed into the old fashioned Big 10.
While they were screwing around with Miles, they let Petrino slip off to Arkansas. Great hire for Arkansas, idiocy by Michigan.

Congratulations Ole Miss! You must be very proud of yourselves!

Had the Arkansas job been filled, I'm sure Petrino would have been interested in Michigan. Maybe this will push Muschamp in our direction? I'd love to have him back at DC.

I am not too excited, I do not believe Petrino will be the coach at Arkansas until 24 hours after the press conferenece. It is the Altman rule.

I trying to see why this guy is such a big deal. He coached at Louisville for 4 years and you see the absolute disaster he left there. He CANNOT recruit. Hell, John L Smith won a ton of games at Louisville. Where is he now?

I can't beleave Mich. let this guy get away.

that is not a fit IMO... I don't see Michigan turning to a guy like Petrino who is a little fast for them in many ways... most notably, how fast he likes to look for better jobs and put himself on the market...
Michigan is still looking for that "Michigan Man" who is part of the family or close to it who will be there as long as they want him there...
Petrino is the opposite of that
