This is nothing like bolting from Miami after stating he wouldn't be the coach at Alabama.

"former player"

former player could be anyone. I know a former player and he knows less about the current situation at hand than those of us reading this forum.

Saban just agreed to a new contract with Bama, anyway, and just recently quoted as saying he regretted the way he handled leaving his last employer - the hit it took on his credibility, etc. - and that he's not making the same mistake again. He's staying at Bama. So I'm not sure why the LSU and UT fans are continuing this circle jerk. Oh well, actually I know why.

And to anyone who keeps repeating this internet fodder that he'll be able to win natty at 3 different schools...sure, that would be easy for him at UT. The real challenge is for him to win 3 more at Bama and have 7 total (or 4 more at Bama to have 7 @ Bama + 1 @ LSU). Either way you slice it, beats the Bear. A much bigger accomplishment, and much more satisfying for someone as driven as he is.

Love it.

that doesn't mean, "I'll never leave another employer again."

actually there is something like it, and it would be worse hit to his credibility. that's saying...yeah I made a mistake in the past (referring to the miami debacle) and I learned from that and I am not going to make the same mistake again - I'm not leaving Alabama.

But then doing the opposite, again and bolting for UT.

Why did he fight to put in his contract, a clause no coach gets....he can leave at any time for any reason without penalty??????? Some gump needs to explain this to me!

Pretty sure he has not openly denied the UT job. Therefore, not the same thing. Syaing you are happy where you are and signing an extension does not equate to saying you wouldnt be happier somewhere else.

I'm sure it is a waste of time to address this but LSU fans still loved Saban after he left for the Dolphins. He was given a standing ovation when they played the Saints in Tiger Stadium. It wasn't until he went to a conference rival that the animosity started.

You can say that LSU fans are terrible for their hate of Saban, but I can guarantee that Alabama fans would react the EXACT same way if Saban ended up at Auburn or Tennessee and started knocking off your team.

I understand there is basically no amount of logic that can be injected into this conversation that would make any difference. So, I'll just wait till after the bowl game when it's obvious Saban isn't going anywhere, and I'll be back to laugh at all of you.

I'm not saying LSU fans are terrible. You guys are just being a little hypocritical laughing about the potential Bama fanbase meltdown as some sort of unique character flaw among Alabama fans when your own fanbase was burning the coach who won you a national title, set you up for a 2nd, and place your program on the most solid foundation it has ever enjoyed in effigy. As for Alabama fans acting the same if he went to a rival, until that happens we won't ever know for sure.

Well, if history is any indication...

That little piece of shite? I doubt they even know about it.

This is why they're going after Nick Saban.

I'm not going to lie - I disliked the annual flirtation with the NFL and the leveraging that into more and more money. But he got the job done. I had always thought the NFL was his ultimate goal, but I also knew his style and particular "skill set" might not translate to success there. In any event, I agreed with the administration to not to try to get into a bidding war with an NFL team that was hell bent on hiring our coach away.

However, once he was gone - I was okay with it - the man was following his "dream." But then he quits after 2 seasons - 2 f*cking seasons. THEN TAKES THE JOB AT BAMA. Had he soldiered on in Miami for 4 or 5 years - given it a legitimate shot - then come back to college - pretty much anywhere except the SEC West - I would be fine with it.

But, he's clearly a turnaround guy, a "me first" personality and ultimately a quitter at his dream job - the NFL. Bama will always be his personal consolation prize.
