Bad thing about this is when UT finally hires a coach and it is not Saban all these posters will be long gone.

Well not so bad, but they aren't man enough to take it just dish it out.

I'll be right here looking forward to next years schedule, regardless of who the coach is at Bama.

My point is he is in the mix till they select someone, ANYONE

mulat, i have been saying for a while now that saban is an option until someone is hired....and been given quite a bit of grief for it.

because, of course, a man who signs an extension, with zero buyout, cannot be an option....right??

stubborn numb nuts....

I don't know if its serious or not, but there are some blabber-mouth posters on Inside Texas who think it is very serious. I just know that UT has been receiving a lot of interest from agents who represent both college & nfl coaches since the $ figures they offered Saban were made known. Jan 2 and Jan 6 seem to be key dates.

Nah they can't rush it especially when their coach of choice wants to finish his current season.

Because the truth is - it is relevant until Texas hires a head coach.

There was/is significant mutual interest between the current head coach at Alabama and the Texas athletics department. Whether there remains active interest - whether there will be a final play - whether Bama will be challenged - again - to up the ante remains to be seen.

Dismiss this at your own peril.

I think that is quite possible. Why the ... after your statement?

Also, why do posters feel the need to post in absolutes like "It will be Jimbo" or "Saban is definitely interested" when most are only making assumptions? We need an accuracy tracking app for this board so we can know which posters to completely ignore (looking at you The Doc) in the future.

Alabama has been very good and very lucky in their run. Saban is very good and he has been very lucky. Even with all Alabama had going their way, BCS giving them a do-over and the SEC making their conference schedule easier for them, they have one SEC title in the last four years. I think the Alabama run is over and the Saban doesn't make blunders like other coaches is history.

I want Saban to stay in the SEC. Alabama is never going to be bad, but I want to watch as 10-3 and third in the SEC begins to sink in for the $7.5 million coach and their fans.

Agree with all of this, but no one is THAT lucky to win 3 in 4 years. They've been very, very good, too. They've been the best program in the country without doubt for the past 5 years and the best team in the country for at least 3 of those 5 years (yes, I think they were better than the 2011 LSU team...it's not a popular opinion, but I think it is true).

Two. They won it in 2009 and 2012. In the last 6 seasons only Bama and AU have won multiple SEC titles.

Every dynasty (or even championship team) has been lucky.

Assuming you meant four seasons and not years. Not sure why you are using the last four seasons as the cutoff date when our dynasty started five seasons ago. We have two SEC championships in the last five seasons. Say what you want, but that's pretty damn good. Auburn has two in that time period as well. And LSU only snagged one in the last five.

Not surprising you used four seasons ago to make us look bad. You're the one who kept calling Saban's raise an almost "50%" raise.

Bama will continue to be a power in the SEC and Nation. The West runs through the Iron Bowl now. And that seems like it won't change for sometime now.

"The West runs through the Iron Bowl now"....how quickly they forget one Gene Chizik...wins a national title and two years after that what happened?

You let the ball bounce a little different next year and they will be blaming someone.... one Gus Malzahn.

And if they lose the BCSCG they will be blaming someone. Especially if Alabama wins and they finish behind them.
