Clearly you didn't watch the press conference.

His play calling definitely was made for the NFL.

I don't have to watch a press conference. I saw it when his team came to Lubbock and I saw it when they played on TV. He was a northern boy and had no clue about A&M when he came to coach them.

Are you serious? This is not true in the least. While it may be arguable that A&M never really accepted him, it is certainly the opposite in terms of Coach Sherman accepting A&M.

Vinny is full on retard. Ags love Sherman. A lot. Don't let a couple Internet posters say otherwise. And Sherman LOVES A&M. To listen to him once it's obvious. Besides all the things he's done.

And Shermsn has no graduate degree from A&M. He was a coach for A&M under Slocum in the early/mid 90's

Vinny please STFU instead of lying

Slocum wasn't an Ag either. He's McNeese St. Jackie Sherril and Bear Bryant aren't Ags.

You know who was? Gene Stallings. The worst coach we ever had.

You are clueless and trying to paint a picture that A&M is so weird we need an insider. Well we aren't. We have some unique traditions that we embrace. But we embrace them mostly after we get to campus because most Ags are 1st generation Ags (we have 50,000 students in a highly competitive academic school that gives no legacy points for applicants). I grew up an LSU fan.

Really, because Slocum was born in Orange, Texas and coached at A&M from 1972 to 2002 save one year. He seems pretty A&M to me. And I know all about A&M and yes you guys are weird. Period. You have male only cheerleaders. You're the butt of every joke in the Big 12. Sheep.

You're about a year late to TigerDroppings with these weak troll attempts. I'm sorry your school hasn't beaten my Ags in any sport for almost 3 years. That's right. You can't beat the Ags in ANYTHING for 3 years. Pathetic.

Now quit being Agsessed. We are done with your sand flea school. Just take your basketball and baseball rapings and keep your mouth shut until June when the divorce is final.

And you can have custody of Baylor. We don't want them

And Sherrill being one of your most successful coaches is funny considering he had to resign and put the University on probation. And I'm talking about recent years. A&M didn't have the reputation back then that they have now. And look at where every successful coach at A&M was born. Either in Texas or in a border state. Coincidence, maybe, or maybe it takes someone from the area to be successful at A&M. And Im not talking about pre-WW2 era because I know Aggies like to hang on to the ancient times.

Arkansas is my first school and only school I cheer forl, I transferred to Tech for their industrial engineering school. Do we want to bring up A&M's record against Arkansas? Didn't think so.

Show me where Jackie cheated. He resigned by pressure from Texas. We didn't have a lot of in state power to stand up to them at that time. Big mistake on our part because he was found guilty of no major violations

Only school you cheer for yet you have TT as your avatar? Nice try.

And did you not see where I grew up an LSU fan? But I'm not going to hitch my wagon to a school I didn't attend. I'll stand proudly next to my Ags

He may not have cheated but MSU was almost put on probation when he stopped coaching them after A&M, so he isn't an angel. Oh, and:

That said, Texas A&M's appearance in the countdown can likely be attributed to a culture of corruption in College Station that seemed to taper off after the 1988 penalties.

You must have missed the part where I put I transferred from Arkansas. Went there for 2 years. So, yes I did attend that school. I have Tech as my avatar cause I go there right now. Do you want me to put up some Arkansas photos in my sig or change my avatar so you feel better?

Edit: And I had my school as Tech so the admins would approve me faster.

Sorry Big Kat, I have supported everything else you said, but it was pretty bad at A&M, SMU, and a few others during that time. My dad and uncle were athletes at A&M during the 80's. Just about everyone got some form of compensation. I'm not saying that it came from Jackie (Clayton Williams and a few others mainly) but he didn't exactly stop it and he was the AD at this time.

After the Arkansas game this year, the first thing my dad said was "I'm sick of this crap, its time to start paying players again."

Kirk Herbstreit in 2006, "Oil is $100 a barrel, there is no excuse for A&M to have a bad football team."

Wiki says Slocum was born in Orange, and they also say that he was born in Oakdale.

Jackie Sherill didn't have ties to A&M.

From the very article you linked dumbass

quote:

In the early 80s Joe Paterno quipped that he wouldn't retire because it would leave football in the hands of "the Jackie Sherrills and the Barry Switzers

quote:

In 1988, the NCAA uncovered numerous incidents of assistant coaches, boosters, and current players offer improper incentives to prospective athletes

Nothing on Sherrill

quote:

Factually, the infractions incurred by Texas A&M over the last 20 years pale in comparison to some of the teams we've already seen. The primary difference, however, is that in many of those cases, the Committee on Infractions sympathized with the institutions for their lack of involvement and inability to stop the boosters. This sometimes resulted in lighter sentences, and fewer instances of "lack of institutional control."

The head guy on the NCAA committee was a Texas grad

You are completely clueless. First, if you watched the press conference you would have seen how DEEPLY Sherman gravitated towards and honored the traditions of A&M. Second, Sherman was OL coach from 89-93 and OC in 95 and 96. Also, two of his kids have degrees from A&M. He definitely had a clue about A&M when he came to coach there.

Shreveport, we cheated. No doubt. But it wasn't Jackie or Slocum.

And RC is originally from Pitkin near Oakdala and moved to Orange at 14. College at McNeese St where he was a TE
