With all due respect, "Irregardless" is not a word. "Granite" should be "granted". "Doggy dog" should be "dog eat dog".
The timeline wasn't going to be anything other than what it is unless Lane signed the extension. He was never going to walk away from Ole Miss mid-season when he wants to coach the team and there's a potential $36M owed if they fire him.
