I still don't understand the conflicting speculation

If Chavis is Miles leader, then why is apparently waiting on Walker?

This is what is being posted, so I just asking the question, "what scenario would makes sense of these two DC candidate situations, and who Miles is leaning towards?"

What is Chavis waiting on?

Walker wants a HC job, if he doesn't get one then a lock to LSU? I conclude that Miles is holding out for Walker, and Chavis is number 2 pick

But that is not consistent with Belowpar's posts
nor the UCLA insider on the radio.

It's very confusing to me

Vegas4LSU said he is neighbors with and LSU coach, and that Walker is the choice, O and maybe Willis

Who to believe? I guess the week of Jan 1 will be exciting on many accounts, (commits etc, new staff)

Your point is excellent - if Chavis is the choice, and everyone has agreed in principle, why not just say that?

A scenario that, sort of, makes is that LSU is Chavis' top choice, but LSU is waiting on Walker. So, once Walker decides, then Chavis can say yes or no to Clemson. If Walker gets offered the NMSU job, then he takes it. If not, he may stay at UCLA, or he may take the LSU job. If LSU ultimately doesn't get Walker, then they want Chavis, he takes the job and, (I don't know, is Bud Foster still available?) Clemson hires somebody else.

That, at least, sort of makes more sense than the scenario that has LSU waiting on Chavis. It's possible, but is not as likely, because it doesn't make as much sense

that is true. i live in jackson also and hear that from a lot of well connected ole miss people. but then again who isn't a well connected ole miss person up here. i hope we don't get him. he's a buffoon. but at the same time he was a terrible head coach and the definition of the peter principle. he may be a good dl coach but should have never risen above that position. the only reason he ever got the ole piss job was that he begged for it and was the only person they could get at the time.

I go to Ole Miss and the cheating going on with recruiting and coach O is something of legend up here. It is very well-known how badly he cheated when it came to recruiting. frick, half the team drove cadillacs. I know a couple players very well that played for and were recruited by O and the things they have told me are so bad they're hilarious.

ETA: plus he was once a cocaine addict and is currently a raging alcoholic. He and his wife have had numerous restraining orders against each other as well. Loose cannon who will get LSU in trouble.

This kinda what I've been thinking. I hope this doesn't turn into one of those things where Walker waits too long and says no only to have Chavis hook up with someone else. Hope Les doesn't get left out in the cold on this deal.

So Chavis is LSU first choice if Walker says no?

But I thought we offered Chavis before Walker?

The reports are filled with so much speculation, it doesn't make much logical real world sense to me.

If Walker is the #1 choice, then Miles is waiting on him to decide, meanwhile Chavis is plan b if Walker doesn't work out..

But Chavis is supposedly first choice, so why in the world are we hearing reports about Walker? Chavis is available...Walker really isn't.

Chavis would have committed to Clemson already if he was going there right? Their DC left for KSU, or is he coaching their bowl like Malveto before he cleans his desk?

The Belowpar post vs the Vegas4LSU post are conflicting

Below has been money

Vegas lives next door to an LSU coach, and claims Walker is very much in it..

Exciting and a bit nerve racking for those us following it so closely

At this point, I will be please with either from what I have read.

I slightly favor Walker because I like his NFL and being younger and Black, aggressiveness would be great fit IMO. Just what the doctor ordered

Don't you think that Miles is just trying to avoid the "pre" bowl distraction of a new coach being named? Keep the players focused?

I could see where he would have the arrangements made with the new names, but not announce til after the bowl.

Just why in the frick does anybody want Orgeron?

I keep hearing people saying that they really hope we get him, they hope UT doesn't end up with him, etc, etc. Why?

Does anyone remember how he ran Ole Miss even deeper into the ground? How about the blatant cheating that went on during his tenure there? The reports of him being an alcoholic and getting in family feuds? Why do we want someone like him representing LSU?

We need Coach O intensity and fire

The other reports are not confirmed

He wasn't the best HC, but look, Snead is making Nutt look like a genius..O got him there

Snead only left Texas because he was stuck behind a freshman starting Colt McCoy.

I'm definitely not a big Be-Be fan, but I can see where his intensity is what a lot of folks feel is missing right now.

One of the things I think is most impressive about Miles is his character and integrity. Be-Be has just a little more character and integrity than Saban .....but that ain't saying much!! In any case, I agree, he doesn't fit the mold of the type of coach I'd like to see here. Unfortunately, at 4MM per year and a rabid fan base, we may end up with a "win at all costs" decision.

In any case, I sure hope that the new coaches bring intensity, but also respect.

my thing about O is that there was some serious hatred from him towards LSU and visa versa while he was HC there

that hatred spread several ways but notably became public with things such as the recruitment of players like Keiland and McKnight, whom he reportedly told to go to USC over LSU if they weren't coming to Ole Miss, etc.

My point is that I would wonder if Miles would hire a guy like O who he has butted heads with on and off the field and likely had some differences with on some things such as the dirty recruiting mentioned above against Miles and LSU

I agree and was pointing out that Miles is a high character guy, and to bring Be-Be in would have to be very hard for him.

Only under a lot of "outside" pressure could I see him doing this.

Coaches butt head all the time on the recruiting trail

I love Miles

But he is a coach who needs the best helping him win...Especially on the defensive side of the ball IMHO.

We were used to a Saban coach who was all Defense, just the opposite kinda of...

Miles is not a defensive specialist, so he needs a really good hire this time on this side of ball to protect his job security with our fan base..The expectations are high as they should be..

With this talent, no way we go 7-5, but we did, he gets a pass after a MNC

Certainly not Vegas. The dude said a couple of weeks ago that Miles was not even going to change D.C's

Just watch the 3rd quarter of the Ole Miss game in 05 and how he treated Flatt. Thats not what you want at LSU.

Of course, don't say anything to Maximus, facts tend to confuse him.
