Correct.
But he was the OC at Rice, Iowa State, and Ohio State, and was able to turn their offenses around very quickly and break a ton of offensive records.

Point is, similar to looking at Dave Aranda's record last winter when LSU made the hire for DC, Herman has had a similar track record of being successful in whatever he has managed.

This shows that he is not only a great offensive mind, but that he has been able to connect with players from different programs all around the country.

Doubt it. All the noise coming from Austin is that Herman is their guy.

Solid post. Couldn't agree more. I may be one of the few people who thinks already winning it all is not necessarily a good thing (i.e. Fisher). Herman will have a huge sense of urgency to win it all.

And the noise coming from Austin a few years ago was that aggy was running scared from the horns, so be careful what you validate.

Yeah I don't exactly agree with that sentiment but there is something to be said for a young, hungry coach that wants to win it all.

Anything can happen of course, but this is a discussion board. I just don't see Herman going anywhere but Texas. If I was a LSU fan I would be wondering about other candidates more and be pleasantly surprised if LSU ended up with Herman.

Actually, it's kind of what I'm doing as an A&M fan since the fire Sumlin campaign is taking off. I just don't think Herman is going anywhere but Texas. So, who's next?

I don't think he turned their offense around. Improved it yes, but it wasn't exactly bad.

Im just hoping we get one of the two. Either one would be the best possible hire for the program.

Agreed completely. Either one would be a great hire and I'm quite apprehensive about any of these other names being floated

Whatever....Miles won ONE and then proceeded to coast downhill. I can easily see this happening to Fisher too. Unless you're a freak like Saban it's simple human nature.

He doesn't strike me as the kind of person to jump on an offer without hearing what everyone has on the table. That could be why there is so little information on him, he could be waiting for everyone to make an offer before he decides.

I agree, but I think that he is smart enough to know a good offer when he sees one, and if he is already interested in coming to a program like LSU, he might jump on the opportunity.

Saban came to LSU because he knew that this program has a ton of upside under good management, and Herman might prefer a program like LSU that is already in relatively good condition rather than having to rebuild a program like Texas.

So I think that if LSU made the right offer to him, he might would jump on it rather than see if Texas was willing to pay a little more. (plus, already having Aranda over here could prove to be a major Plus for him in knowing he wouldn't have to go out and find a big time DC to follow him to his next job)

I think a lot of people think that, and for no other reason than that he currently coaches about 4hrs away from UT's campus. There has been next to nothing to substantiate Herman going to UT (or LSU) outside of pure speculation. The more that it appears that UT is botching the Strong situation, the less likely it is that they'll get there top target.

They could also throw down quite a bit more money than LSU and not even blink

Why?

I dont think Miles just was like oh I won it all now I am just going to relax from here on out. He didnt adapt to a changing game. I think this was more of a product of him being stubborn and having a huge ego.

What has Fisher done to make you think he is coasting downhill?

His record without Winston.

Its been stated on here multiple times in picture form. His roster was completely loaded on both sides of the ball. To say Winston was the only player he won with is just not accurate.

And lets say your little argument was true. Is it a knock against Fisher that he trained and coached the best qb in the league that year? Dont you think he may have had a hand in how good Winston was?

He's won the ACC championship 3 of the last 4 seasons. I love the prospect of LSU hiring Herman as well, but let's at least be honest in our comparisons.
