I don't think he turned their offense around. Improved it yes, but it wasn't exactly bad.
So do you think winning at the highest level with their 2nd and 3rd string QB was just a fluke?
Give the man his due.

He's won the ACC championship 3 of the last 4 seasons. I love the prospect of LSU hiring Herman as well, but let's at least be honest in our comparisons.
I agree that Jimbo is an excellent coach, and I would be happy if LSU was able to get him, but it will not be easy as he is already entrenched deeply at FSU.
Also, It is important to not that Jimbo has struggled to win big games after Heisman QB J Winson left, and he also lost in a head to head game with Tom Herman despite having arguably better talent than Houston that year.
One other thing to note about Jimbo is that his offensive scheme may not work quite as well against Alabama as Herman's which we already know works well.

Winning the ACC for Florida state should be like LeBron scoring in double figures, it's just automatic. The ACC doesn't remotely compare to the Sec West and I'm not a bit impressed he won the ACC. Now, he is in down years. His team has lost two years in a row to Fedora. That's just terrible imo. The natty is impressive, yes.
If our only qualification is that the coach is better than Les and can run a descent offense then we are selling ourselves short. As I have stated before, I hope I am very very wrong because it's looking more and more like Jimbo.

Pretty ignorant statement.

The SEC West, minus Bama, has been down the past few years. The SEC has been very top heavy with 3 or so teams being good and a bunch of garbage teams mixed in

With the exception of Clemson, I very much disagree. They won't even get the chance to go to title game this year. And as down as the sec west is, it can never be as down as the ACC.

By some of the logic on here, people will only be happy with 2-3 coaches, who we have no chance of getting.

I just don't like Jimbo, maybe I am blind. I hope so.

Texas has been in a slump since Colt McCoy left. And yet they still get solid five star recruits each year. If LSU went through a Texas like stretch, it would really hurt the recruiting. Money wise, LSU can't match UT. UT has the biggest brand in all college sports. Given the choice, Herman goes there. Especially since they have a more forgiving fan base. More than likely, LSU gets a low profile hire.

Herman comes across as a guy who wants to be the man and he would have his chance every year.

I think Texas will go after Jimbo and Dabo first. Jimbo jumps, I think.
Alleva pulls a fast one and fans the smoke enough to make UT think that Jimbo is our #1 target when it was really Herman all along.

Well, this is just ignorant. All you have to do is look at how long of a leash Les was given, compared to the short leash Charlie Strong was given.

Key word is Target... he will not go to LSU...

All other options (Jimbo, O, Fleck, Kelly, etc) are significant downgrades from Herman, imo. We would be an instant contender with him.

quote:im fine with Herman but people put way too much into this. it was Zeke Elliot who dragged that team to a title, not the QB.
So do you think winning at the highest level with their 2nd and 3rd string QB was just a fluke?
in the 2 playoff games Zeke ran for 476 yards and 6 TDs with 0 fumbles, while Cardale Jones passed for 485 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs.

This is so crazy to say... Could they yes, but why would Texas just throw out all kinds of money for Herman? To keep him from LSU? Lmao this isn't how business is done unless that coach is Saban and they would still keep the pay at the going rate for the top coach in the nation maybe pay him slightly more then bama to get him. They won't do this with Herman or if they do they would look so idiotic and desperate. There heads are too far up their own arse to do something like that in the first place. So no it will come down to who jumps on him first or who really wants him and then if Herman feels that program fits what he wants in his future. It WILL NOT come down to money, LSU could and would pay what ever Texas could or would.

I cant wrap my head around thinking Jimbo is a significant downgrade from a guy who hasnt even finished coaching his 2nd season at Houston.
