But I haven't seen this discussed anywhere. If Tulane goes to the Big 12, LSU might finally have a competitor for in-state talent down the road. I don't like that at all.

I understand the idea of Tulane competing with LSU is comical, but the ability to offer a chance to play for a BCS school is a lot different than a C-USA type thing. I know it's hard to imagine, but it will certainly change things eventually.

It's not Tulane LSU has to worry about. It's Texas, Oklahoma, and the rest making yearly trips to New Orleans.

Playing for national titles in the best conference in the country >>> Being arse-raped by Texas, OU, Okie State and TCU every year.

It would give them a leg up on the ULLs, ULMs, Techs, and USMs out there in terms of Louisiana talent, but probably not help them too much when it comes to BCS-level talent like the state produces now.

You think Texas and Oklahoma are worried about recruiting against Baylor?

Spot on. Tulane is not going to suddenly be a problem. It's going to be the big schools that come to NOLA to play. They will take recruits for sure.

Well Baylor did get Robert Griffin III. How much more useful would he be on a BCS contender?

I don't think Tulane will suddenly be a problem, but if they spent multiple decades as a BCS program, that eventually becomes a problem and maybe in other sports more than football even. They might never out-recruit LSU, but to say they won't be a headache in New Orleans alone is stretching it.

These 2 should never be in the same sentence

Yeah, the two other threads on the first page are really hard to find.

As much as I'd hate to see LSU ever lose to Tulane, I'd rather see LSU lose to a Big12 Tulane than a CUSA Tulane. I want the good baseball series to come back.

Where has this possibility even been discussed? Tulane can't put 5,000 fannies in the Superdome. The Big 12 doesn't want Tulane.

uh it's a wise move for the Big 12. And it is being discussed.

Look it's not about "Tulane". It's about opening doors for Big12 teams to possible recruit Louisiana.

Kind of a shot across the SEC boat if you ask me and a yearly trip to New Orleans is a positive to many of those schools IMO

OK, I'll buy that. I did not realize it was being discussed.
It's shot across the bow, BTW.

It's akin to Tulane joining the SEC (which makes more sense); unless you see that happening you won't see them joining the Big 12.
