For those who think Missouri isn't "southern" enough.

I'm sure much of Missouri is about as Southern as Kentucky.

But it doesn't mean Missouri would be a good fit.

And we tolerate Kentucky because a) they are the Alabama of basketball, b) horse racing and c) fine spirits.

Just what does Columbia, MO offer up that I couldn't find in Lexington?

A decent football team?

What does Baton Rouge offer that I could not find in Hattiesburg?

Guess what, boys. I grew up in the Bootheel. How many of you know that Stonewall Jackson lived in present day Mississippi County for a while as a boy. None? That doesn't surprise me. How many of you know that there is more cotton raised in the Missouri Bootheel than the entire State of Mississippi? None? That doesn't surprise me. If anyone thinks there is anything Yankee about the Bootheel then go there, say it and count the seconds before you get your arse whipped.

The bootheel is basically Arkansas and is southern delta culture. I have family from Hayti.

My dad always said the true test of whether you were in the south or not is in breakfast... If you don't see grits on the menu then you're not in the south anymore.

Kentucky is "decent" most years recently. And I don't think mizzou would have much if any more success in the sec than Kentucky. Plus, don't they have quite a bit of trouble filling their stadium?

Come to terms with the fact that Mizzou would be a terrible addition to the SEC. The primary college sport is and always has been football...and the people of Missouri could give two shits about Mizzou football. That is about as un-Southern a sentiment as you can get.

frick Mizzou. Stay out. We don't need another doormat.

If they jump in the SEC, they'd lose 3-4 more games than they did in the Big 12. In turn they'd lose even more "Football Fans". Doubt if Mizzou wants the tougher competition. Missouri won't get enough talent to compete with the SEC. I can see them competing with Schools like Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Northwestern, Indiana, Michigan State, etc. Now I'm sure Ohio State, Penn State, Nebraska and Michigan will stomp them on a yearly bases.

And after the beating by Pac 12 Arizona State coming up Friday I doubt if Mizzou want to face even tougher competition in the SEC.
