the only two rivalry games worth maintaining yearly are USC and Navy; the rest are expendable.

I think referring to the Big Ten as the B1G is pretty lame...

From an outsiders view, ND does seem to fit better in the BIG with all the teams they play, but I could see it in the ACC as well. I just want you bastards to man up and join a conference!

That's B1G to you, sir!
Are people calling it the "Big" conference?

i refer to it as the B1G - b one g
i also refer to texas a & m as aTm
both because they are easier to type and the representation on screen looks similar to the actual logo

surprisingly, most ND fans seem to be open to the idea; however, they do not want it to be the B1G

i think ND to the ACC is a real possibly and I think they could come w/ UT. The ACC may be the only major conference willing to make concessions on UT's LHN and would do the same for ND. However, in the long run, I don't see how ND can reclaim it's national prominence playing in the ACC. they need Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, S.Cal and one military academy on the schedule. The Big10 is the only conference that will allow it.

We need to fight to stay independent until it's legitimately not an option (i.e. something like it would lock us out of being eligible for the NC). I'm confident with Swarbrick in this regard.
Should it get to a point we have to join, I guess I'm OK with either B1G or ACC. I don't think joining the Big Ten would stop us from being able to recruit nationally. ND's fanbase more than any other is scattered everywhere and the Catholic connection is also a big part. I think the national schedule plays a little bit of a role still, but I think it had more of a factor in growing the fanbase early. If you're in the Big Ten, plus OOC games against USC and Navy, that still leaves two OOC games which you can schedule something like BC and one "big" National program. Or a big program and a MAC school, whatever. And ND could probably schedule the game against the smaller school as one of their "home neutral site games" around the country, for more exposure.

the ACC keeps some semblance of our national footprint in a more logical way than the B1G
NDs largest alumni groups are in: Chicago, ny/nj, minneapolis, texas and florida/california. unifying that base by providing games across all sports in their region is very attractive.
my big fear is that we become a midwest school as opposed to a national school, (northwestern).
if nd could somehow convince texas to come along to the ACC, it is a slam dunk homerun.
but i agree, i prefer independence above all else.
