I agree.
However, nothing about this whole process has been easy.

Vandy - Tenn
LSU - FLA
MSU - UK
OM - Bama?
UGA - Missou/A&M
AU - Missou/A&M

Very true.
I just can't imagine it would sit well with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee if they had to kill themselves every year to get out of the East, while LSU (and sometimes Arkansas) got to beat up on the Mississippi schools, Vanderbilt, and the two new guys in the West.
Slive doesn't have the final say in those kinds of things. There's no way the presidents and people in charge of the East schools would allow that.

Again, I'm sure LSU and Ole Miss would have no problem with this. But I'm not sure Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, and South Carolina would think it's a very good idea.
LSU would win the West more than half the time.

UT and GA are down. By the time they are competing again who's to say A&M won't be ready to compete with LSU and Ark in the West. It won't be that much different.
It would be Bama vs UF in the East this year and Ark vs LSU in the West. Those are the 4 best teams in the conference and there is not much difference between the rest until you get down to OM/UK/Vandy at 10/11/12

Based on the last 10 years...
1) Florida
2) LSU
3) Auburn
4-6) Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia
7) Arkansas
8) South Carolina
9-12) Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vanderbilt
So, the East would have 5 of the top 6 SEC teams in the last 10 years. You can't bank on Missouri being a team that will compete year in and year out. And honestly, you can't bank on A&M either.

Well I guess the trade off would have to be if UF/UGA want back their yearly game with Auburn they haven't had in a while and if Bama really wants both Tenn and Auburn every year or an easier route to the SEC title game. I think they would rather keep their rivalries but I'm not a president/AD/ or coach. Getting VT and FSU and making pods would be easier.
Pod 1 - A&M Missou LSU Ark
Pod 2 - OM MSU Auburn Bama
Pod 3 - Vandy UT UGA UK
Pod 4 - Fla FSU USC VT
Everyone would have 1 perm
Aub - LSU
Fla - UGA
Bama - Tenn
OM - Vandy (SEC would rather have Aub playing LSU every year)
MSU - UK
Ark - USCe
FSU - A&M
VT - Missou

I've hated the divisional lineups bad enough. The Pod system just takes a bad one and makes it worse.

Simple Solution.. get rid of divisions all together... top 2 teams record-wise make SEC championship.. each team can keep 4 rivalries every year, the rest of the SEC schedule is rotated every year.

Each team could keep 5 rivalries under that format.
You need divisions for a championship game though. It's a rule. We'd have to get that waived.
