one of the worst movies i've seen in theaters in a long, long time. i had a great time though just making fun of it. i'd recommend it just for the laughs alone.

M. Night Shyamalan needs to stop making movies. I have to think he's going to have problems finding financing if he isn't already. His last three films have been and unintentionally .

Wow! I'm a huge fan of Shyamalan and I thought this was one of his best movies. He does a great job of terrifying you without just showing torture or pain like the Saw series or other slasher movies.

After The Village and Lady in The Water which I hated I didn't think this one was all that bad. It wasn't the best but I thought it was entertaining even if it was only to see how the next person killed themselves.

I'll be buying it this week, and watching it soon after.

I've heard tons of negative things about it, and even know the reasons (from reading the threads on this board).

That being said, I'll still give it a shot, because I like most of MNS's movies (though I haven't seen Lady in the Water).

That one was kind of an oddity to me. I thought that it just tried to twist the plot around too many times and it ended up going in circles. I thought Giamatti was really good in it, though and the overall story was interesting.

Just watched it tonight.

I won't judge because I didn't quite get it, but from what I saw, I didn't like it. I am a M.Night fan, but I agree with the poster who said no plot and no real ending. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

Yes. Yes. And yes.

Pisses me off b/c I like Wahlberg. I was waiting for something cool but it didn't happen. I waited to figure out the plot but never did. I figured "at least the ending must rock" but it sucked.

And I don't want some movie snob telling me I have to "figure out the ending". F that. They never tell you what actually happened. They give you ideas, but don't actually tell you. That junk's weak if you ask me.

**SPOILER**

It was the trees releasing toxins into the air that made everyone who breathed it kill themselves, but not anyone else. It started with large populations and then attacked smaller and smaller groups until it finally attacked that one lady by herself who was outside. That's when the attack ended. No one believed that it could have been nature because it was only in the Northeast, so they said it was a terrorist attack (slight 9/11 reference). Then at the very end you see it start happening again in France.

Does that help?

Exactly. How can people say they didn't get it? I don't get that. I can understand people not liking it, or thinking it sucked, but to say you didn't get the plot says a lot about how dense people are. The plot was clear as day to me.

I watched it last night, and thought it was just okay. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting though, after reading shite about it on here.

The worst part to me was the shitty acting by just about everyone in the movie (even Wahlberg). Zooey Deschanel (or whatever) is a horrible actress.

Exactly. Not everyone buys into movies like I do. I watch them for entertainment, not as a critic, but how in the world do you not get the plot?

Looking back, the plot was lined out in one of teh first scenes where Wahlberg is Q&A-ing with his class.

Event of nature
Unexplainable
etc.

Also, the newscast in the movie said that something like this would likely just all of a sudden end quickly once it peaked. And Wahlberg said the same thing about the poisonous algae off the coast of Australia...how it ended just as quickly as it came about.

The DVD is supposed to have footage (not suitable for theaters) so lets hope people kill themselves gory. That being said I like it. Markey Mark was surprisingly funny.
