Thinking about staying here with the family Friday - Sunday for Mardi Gras.

Is it a nice hotel?
How is the area right outside of it for parade watching? (Normally we stand on St Charles closer to the Expressway near the Popeyes).
Would it be an okay walk safety wise after Endymion? (I.e. around 10 PM). Would be walking from somewhere near the Dome to the hotel.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It's older (which some might feel dated) but it's nice. Location is great for UPT parade near Popeyes. A bit of a walk from Dome but doable, although staying in CBD/Warehouse/Convention would be a bit easier walk from the Dome on Saturday and would be easy walk to Popeyes for the other days. If walking from Dome be aware you'll cross under interstate aka homeless tents but you'll be fine if you're crossing on a major street like St Charles and will likely have safety in numbers being it's MG.

Exactly what I was looking for. We have walked many times so definitely aware of what's under/around the Expressway, but we would probably walk up Howard to Lee Circle and then down St Charles to the hotel on Endymion night. I think we would probably just watch the parades right in front of the hotel and not even stray down to the Popeyes.

Better than by Popeyes, good spot for Uptown Parades. Quite a hike for Endymion.
Hold up a Tigerdroppings sign Friday night, and I'll bomb you.

Ha - which one are you in? We will be there for all 3 Friday night. Probably not on the neutral ground side.

Hermes, but I'd bet a TD sign would illicit reactions from someone on almost every float that weekend

Do they still even have rooms available for Mardi Gras? Seems like they would be fully booked by now.

Checked website for giggles. Stay from February 26th-Wednesday March 2nd. There is a king room for $474/night and that does not include taxes and fees.
