Saints Met with QB Malik Willis at Senior Bowl this week

Per whodatsnation.
This guy is having a great week at the Senior Bowl. He’s been one of the better performers there. At this rate, I doubt he’s there when we pick, but he’s an intriguing prospect. Elite level athlete with a rifle for an arm.
With CSP gone, questions surround whether the Saints are going to commit to Jameis going forward. This kid could be a nice piece to build around if we decide to go the rookie route. But as I already mentioned, I think it would cost us a pick or two to get him.

Was thinking the same thing watching the practices that he was having the better performances.
I don’t love any of these QB’s as “my franchise pick”, but Willis seems like the one who could have the most success
Not sure those types are welcome at Liberty

Top notch atheist? For the Saints of all teams?

Due dilligence.
Guard in the 1st, Ridder in the 2nd, WR or RB in the 3rd.

Ridder didn’t impress me at all against Bama. He folded like a paper towel.

The steelers like him too.
I love that he can make plays outside of the pocket with a strong arm.

No to San Howell and Desmond Ridder. They’re both wildly inconsistent and those type of QBs bust more often than not.
It’s Pickett, Coral or Willis if we’re going QB early this year.

Admittedly I’ve never seen this guy play, but I saw a still picture of his throwing motion and I didn’t like it. He also have a pretty basic interview in the paper.
I’ll do some more homework, but my gut is saying No right now.
Watched a minute or 2 of film. Dude has decent talent, but his fundamentals are bad and he can’t read a defense.
Also, he pops as a plus athlete at Liberty, but he’s not any more athletic than say a Joe Burrow at the NFL level.
Hard pass. This dude ain’t it if the goal is to win a Super Bowl.

That's a strong opinion after admitting you know nothing about him. Besides the 2 minutes of "film" of course.

QBs are easy to evaluate if you know what you are looking for. I knew what Joey B was after he ran out of the Tunnel in the season opener his Jr year in college.
I’m sorry Malik ain’t the one. I wouldn’t pick him at all, let alone trading up to get him.

So burrow going 11/24 for 140 yards vs Miami showed you his greatness?

I’m hoping for Pickett but I would really like a WR in the first also. Torn on which direction we should go

You don’t understand situational football or intangibles. Context matters. Joe had just gotten on campus 5 weeks prior to that game.
Out of the tunnel, you could tell he was a leader.
In the first or second drive, he calmly audibled at the line and it resulted in a long TD.
You can’t teach what Joe has.
Malik has zero of it. Malik is store brand Mahomes. Let the Lions continue to be the Lions and draft him.
Speaking of Mahomes, I told everyone that he was the Best player on the field during that LSU and Texas Tech matchup. A lot of people scoffed because Texas Tech lost by 28 and LSU had a roster full of nfl talent.

I remember the same things were said about this guy.

Burrow was definitely light years more advanced in his overall abilities at QB coming out of LSU but to say Willis is not more athletic than Burrow is pure nonsense. Being a great athlete at QB is a plus nowadays but Burrow has proven it isn't a must to be great athlete to excel at quarterback in the NFL level.

Holy shite you literally just said you've never seen him play but you don't like him based on a picture? If you're such a good QB evaluator can you please explain what in the picture made you believe he's not a good QB?
