My wife is looking for a trip for her and our 9 year old daughter. Not to expensive. Any ideas?

Flying? Driving?
Budget?
What do they enjoy?
How far of a distance?

They could go see a play somewhere! I always loved when my parents would take me to Dallas to see a traveling Broadway play like Wicked.

Do they like history? Colonial Williamsburg is a good idea for kids her age.
Or DC....seeing the monuments & the Mall museums makes quite an impression on a kid.

Houston is a good option.
There is an American Girl store there she could go to.
I haven't been because I don't think it was there when I lived in Houston, but there is Candytopia which could be a lot of fun for a young girl.
Lots of places they could go have a tea party.
The Children's museum is supposed to be really cool.
ETA: Oh and the zoo is nice as well.

Mississippi Coast is an inexpensive option. New Aquarium, Margaritaville has a huge arcade & good restaurant. Take the ferry to Ship Island and tour the Civil War fort. Rent a jetski if its warm.
