Since booking our spring break road trip to Vegas/Sedona/GC/Page/Zion, both my husband and I have had to have unexpected surgeries. Still taking the trip, but it will be a lot less active than we had planned. I heard about the HearHere app with audio stories that pop up as you drive around the country, and thought it might help make the trip more interesting (perhaps especially for my 12-year old, who'll be stuck in the car with injured parents). Any reviews from fellow Travel Board-ers before I subscribe?

Haven't used that app specifically but I've used similar audio tours for national parks etc and have really enjoyed them. Similarly have done Rick Steves self guided tours too in Europe.

GyPSy Guide is what we use and love it.

Off topic, but I'm planning a similar trip this summer as well. I'd love to hear what you had planned to do before you found out about your surgery.

Just hiking in Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Sedona, and Zion. And then Jeep/ATV tours in Sedona and outside of Vegas.

My husband tore his ACL and had surgery in January. That knocks out hiking. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had surgery last week. I don't think I'm going to be up for the jostling of a Jeep/ATV tour.

I think we're going to be limited to walking -- e.g., I haven't cancelled our Antelope Canyon tour. I think we can still manage that short walk, the walk out to Horsehoe Bend, walking along the GC rim, etc.
