Hello, all. I've been reading too much lately about the 19th century, and it's time to step into the 20th for a while.
Can anyone recommend a great biography (or biographies) and non-fiction books regarding the following 20th century figures and events:
- Lyndon B. Johnson
- Franklin Roosevelt
- Watergate
- Elvis Presley
- The rise and fall of the KKK
- The space race
- The moon landing
- Lenin
- Stalin
- The Russian Revolution
- The rise and fall of the USSR
Thank you

For some USSR history I just read both
red Famine by Anne appelbaum ( timely reading dealing about Russia and the famine across Ukraine they caused in the early 30’s) helped put some context on the current war now
Also Gulag by Applebaum as well with the history and day to day life in Gulag camps
You didn’t mention it but just for enrichment and a trilogy worth reading is Robert j evans third reich trilogy . That was fantastic as it dealt with the emergence of the Nazi party up through 1945

For those looking for just one must-read book on the Twentieth Century

Not on your list, but I highly recommend Wittgenstein: Duty of Genius by Ray Monk. He was arguably the most important philosopher of the 20th century and lived a fascinating life.

The Wright Brothers by David McCoullogh

Brilliant dude from a brilliant family. Only other family I can come up with that could match their collective IQ and achievements would be the Penrose family.

I'm most of the way through the first book of The Gulag Archipelago, highly recommended if you have the time.
A Failed Empire - about the Soviet Union from Stalin to Gorby is a good read.
Rising Tide - about the 1927 flood in Mississippi is outstanding.

Rising Tide is one of the best nonfiction books I’ve ever read. Unexpected bonus is its great description of the New Orleans business/social power structure of the time.
