I’m a pretty big fan of Mike Winger, a pastor who’s YouTube channel focuses on thinking biblically about things, and I recently watched a video of his hashing out the way that progressive christians think regarding scripture and why it so incredibly different to how mainline Christianity views scripture and theology, and the differences are so glaring that I think a lot could be learned in how they think on things politically and socially. If you have a minute, I promise you that it will be worth your time to watch in order to get your mind around it a little.

He basically breaks down how instead of conforming your morals and will to God, the progressive christian picks and chooses nuggets from scripture that they like and ignore that which hold you accountable on those very things they believe aren’t sin. Many even believe in the basic tenets of Christianity, but at the same time are looking for ways out of Christianity? It’s as if they are in a battle and trying to justify it to themselves maybe? It really comes off as a lot of self delusion really.

Another salient point of his was in showing how affirming they are of each other, that being those within the LGBTQ community, pro-choice people, etc, almost like how a bear protects it’s cubs, and it’s leaders go to great lengths to try and weaken scripture to protect the modern social norms they’ve embraced, rather than allowing the word of God to conform them. The affirming of others apparently takes on much much greater importance than Christ.

Anyway, there’s a ton of really interesting stuff in the video that I think could be great for someone trying to figure out the way liberals think, perhaps for anyone wanting to write a book on the stuff. It’s all so bizarre.

First and foremost is a complete misapplication of the notion of "equality"

The Essence of the Left

Solid podcast explaining the psychology of the left.

File this in the "No shite folder".

The whole Methodist Church just split over biblical vs. pick and choose biblical teachings.

I don’t understand how anyone can claim to be a progressive/socialist/Democrat and also claim to be a Christian. The core values do not align and cannot coexist.

I have many friends and several family members like this.

That’s the crazy part. They’re trying to make it all work out for them, and it’s just a huge mess. I personally think it’s to validate their sin, but man is it a conflict.
