at least pick the players at the beginning of the season. Use the search and find players who at least have you in their top 5 or top 10. Rank them in the order of need. At least keep up with ranking the players during the season. As players get interested or stop being interested move them around as needed.

The auto recruiting this year is much more detailed than I saw in 07. You can go through and specify which positions to focus on more and which types of players you want at those positions. However, I haven't tried to see if the cpu uses all of your allotted time for recruiting or if that time is spread out accordingly.
I would try filling out your board the first week and offer recruits that have you as their top school a scholarship to see if they take that right away. However, you may want to try to only put 25-30 recruits on your board that you are more likely to get. That way the cpu won't waste time on 5-10 recruits that you can't sign anyway.

I use to track 35 players every season. Get around 12-15 that I was after. Started just going two deep for needs, and 1 deep fastest QB, RB, WR, DE, LB, CB, FS, SS. 1 deep strongest OT, OG, DT. Usually around 20 players and would get around 8-10. Still would have decent classes. but alot more gems. 3 stars that go on to win Heisman or other awards.
