Following the death of Andy Fletcher I didn't think we'd see anything new from Depeche Mode. Maybe a compilation release or a maybe a single in tribute. Press conference is scheduled and streaming in about 15 mins to announce the new album titled "Memento Mori" and subsequent tour. Waiting to see if it's a proper album or an EP maybe. Either way, new Depeche is on the horizon. Hoping it's worlds better than their previous 3 or 4 releases. A return to form with a great final album and tour would be a nice way to call it a day for DM.

Slated to be 12 new tracks with possibly some left over ones used for a Deluxe Version. The snippet from the press conference from an as yet untitled song was interesting. Did not sound at all like the tired Electro Blues from the previous 4 releases. Very electronic with more straight forward vocals. Dave's had a tendency to over sing and channel Elvis at times which honestly was kind of cringe! Hopeful for a solid album.

I truly want this to be true but I have my doubts. DM albums post-Alan Wilder have been pretty rough.

I think Ultra was a strong post AW album start to finish but that was 1997. Nothing they've released since then has been close to that even.
New producers are James Ford (responsible for the dreadful last album) and Marta Salogni which I am unfamiliar with. The snipped from the press conference was promising to start but then at least initially some very "Sounds of the Universe" feeling music kicked in with the same thin sounding drums that have seemed to plague them later in their career.
