When he came into office, the SPR had 695,078,000 barrels of oil in January 2017. This is the highest it ever was under his presidency. When he left office, it had 638,085,000 barrels of oil.
Before you say that he tried to fill it up but Dems blocked it, there are other ways he could have filled it without them.
Just trying to see if we all can admit that he lies a lot just to make himself look good. I don't understand it either because I don't feel like he has to lie. He could just say look at gas prices (even though I don't believe presidents affect the price of gas the way you all think it does).
Can someone explain this to me? Does he just actually believe it so he says it and is misinformed? I just don't get it. Now that Rs are turning on him, maybe they will start calling him out when he lies.

The Democrats are draining it.
For their own political purposes.

Did Trump empty the SPR for his party’s re-election campaign?

To temporarily manipulate the price of oil for the midterms. Wait until the summer. They will try and blame muh Putin price hike again.

So, basically everyone will just deflect. Why did I think someone would actually answer a question on this board?

If this is the biggest gotcha DU was able to come up with, he must have done pretty good.

You conveniently failed to mention mandatory drawdowns were still in place from the Obama era. Obama used the SPR as a bill payer for the 21st Century Cures Act and the FAST Act. Those oil sales continued into 2017 and 18.
Trump authorized a drawdown for the Hurricane Harvey response.

The question was why does he keep lying and saying that he filled it when he didn't. No one will answer the question. Just deflect and say oh but look what they did. It's sad. You won't hold him accountable for his lies and that's why he can't win.

No one on this board feels like beating up on the mentally handicapped.

So Commie what are these ways of circumventing to fill the reserves?

At least one person on this board admits Trump is mentally handicapped...

He did fill it jackass. Maybe not back to the same level as when he took office.
Also forgot to mention there were oil sales to fund the SPR’s $1B modernization program, LE2

He can tell the oil companies to send oil instead of royalties is the basic premise.

Because your question is moot considering what dipshit in chief has done with the reserves the past 6 months. Trump had it over 600 mil barrels.
And they typically do releases in the aftermath of hurricanes. We had Two major hurricanes and several others in the 2020 season.
Which is what the STRATEGIC reserves are for.

Umm
You forgot to mention how Trump sold off oil that was stockpiled at $60+/brl during the decline and was buying it back when oil was trading negative.
Say what you want (I I generally do about him) but the man knows business.
Whoever is running this administration though? Well he's selling off all that cheap oil to have to replenish it at likely $ 70, $80 or more.

Kind of like the premise for student loan forgiveness is based on Covid is still an emergency and civilians fall under the HEROES Act.
