403b lincoln financial multi-fund variable annuity

the mrs school offering this instead of 401(k). prospectus has fees, fees, and more fees. plus, high surrender charges before 59.5. what's the MT opinion of this program versus just skipping and making tax deductible ira contribution instead. school offering 3% match.

Without more details I can’t really speak to this specific one. But my fiancée is a retired teacher and ended up with one of these annuity plans when she took early retirement. I just recently rolled it into a Schwab rollover IRA for her. Why? Because she’d been getting buried in fees for nothing for the past ten years (well before I met her). Hers was also multi fund and there was nothing about it that impressed me in the least.
