Will be there for one day with a 4 year old.
This will be the first theme park with a kid. Any tips/tricks or advice?

You can easily do both parks in a single day.

But if you insist on going, know that having a stroller will be important. Also know that you will on and off leave this stroller inside a MASSIVE herd of similarly temporarily abandoned strollers. If you have valuables and/or if you have OCD about leaving things unattended, make your peace with this practice now. Trust me - it feels WAY better to be able to just roll it up to the pile and walk away, knowing it will be there - out in the open- when you get back.

With a 4 year old, I’d do just Disneyland and skip California adventure.

That's the plan.
We are not into theme parks at all, but he is big into winnie, snow white, Pinocchio, Peter pan, star wars, etc.
8 day trip with one day at a theme park...I can live with it at this point.
