It appears that these two quarterbacks have very different styles. Garret is more of a pocket passer and Shepard is much more of a dual threat. With the talk about finding a QB to fit his(Crowton) system; why are we recruiting such opposites? Is it possible that Crowton wants to continue the 2 QB system?

I think it's much more likely that Crowton is not here in 2-3 years.

Crowton's system requires a good passer regardless of running ability. Having a QB that can also run isn't something any system would pass up. Shepard being an excellent runner can make up for some shortcomings in his passing game, but if he Garrett is a much better passer then he will get more playing time. Garrett fits Crowton's offense just fine, but Shepard APPEARS to have Vick like ability, and that will not get turned down by any college coach.

Pretty sure he meant that Crowton will probably leave for a head coaching gig at some point, not that we'd fire him to get someone else.

Crowton's system adjusts to his players... so he doesn't necessarily recruit a specific type of QB

Exactly. Tim Rattay was a statue and he set all kinds of records.
