STAY AWAY FROM DC'S. Had Sunday lunch there a week ago and it was really bad. Had fried shrimp platter. Didn't know you could mess up fried shrimp but they managed to. The salads were really bad. None of my dining companions anything good to say about their meals.

I'd stick to Ruby's.

Matilda's on the east side of town...well actually before you get into town is a good little joint. Mama's Fried Chicken has more than just chicken...the pork steak is quite good. Of coarse Ruby's is hard to beat...and easy to find, right down town.

Sadly the Pelican is no more, now a Mexican place.

Try the Krazy Kajun. Pretty good food for relatively cheap.

Nick's is still good.

Not sure that they are still open for lunch.

Great plate lunches at Bubba Frey's in Mowata.

I ended up at Ruby's

I had the smothered liver with a side of green beans and black eyes peas, iced tea and a piece of sheet cake. $6.95. Besides the impending heart attack, I am very satisfied with the meal.

Ruby's is one of those "can't go wrong" kinda places. Nothing facny for sure, but always good.
