They think they will seriously get Loston. They say because of our "down year" it gives them a better chance. They went 4-8 this year. Now y'all know why Horn fans make fun of aggies so much

Sorry, wrong link

It was this one LINK

and to quote it
quote:

Though you were joking, it is not outside of the realm of possibility. In fact I would say A&M's chances of getting most of them are pretty good when all factors are considered.
Michael - he may choose A&M by default seeing as how no other major program within a 1000 mile radius is bothering to recruit him.
Carrol - doesn't want to follow Hazleton's footsteps and be buried in depth chart hell. He may instead opt to go where he can make an immediate impact. I think he has an official scheduled for A&M.
Teo - devout Mormon that may prefer going to very conservative College Station instead of ground zero for hedonism known as Los Angelas.
Loston - LSU has lost its Luster and is looking for a new DC. May decide to go to school with his BFF Davis.
Okafor - now that he finally has his 5 star rating due to being a Texas commit, he may now finally consider his options. It has to be awfully tempting when look at A&M's comical depth at DE in 2009.

and another one LINK

quote:

So with LSU being pushed around do recruits take notice? There are some highly prized recruiting battles going on between LSU and the Ags for the likes of Craig Loston and Christian Michael. With the Bayou Bengals looking down after thier MNC and the Ags tempting offer of starting right away and displaying your talent against the nation's best QB's (Loston), will it be enough to snag a couple difference makers at the deadline? Remember Sherm's ability to land some big names late last year? Here's to hoping at least!

quote:

Players have obviously been attracted to LSU as of late due to their success. If it looks like they're on the way down, I'm sure Les will try to sell it as an opportunity, but hopefully it'll get some kids scratching their heads.

quote:

In no way am I saying that our poor performance this year is helping our case in recruiting. Or am I trying to compare our definition of a bad season to LSU. I am simply asking if the fact that this subpar season, by LSU's standards, is an advantage for us in the head-to-head recruiting battles for some top notch talent. Personally I think it helps our case in recruiting that they slipped a little this year. How much it helps, if at all, I don't know. There's probably not a way to measure this. But its a simple fact that the 2 closest schools to Houston area kids are A&M and LSU and if they have a down year it can only help to sway these guys West of Houston rather than East. With that being said if we take care of business on the field next year none of it will matter.

quote:

Saban is going to come in and clean LSU's clock in recruiting. This is the beginning of the end for Miles. The Ags may benefit here and there for a guy or two from Texas looking at LSU.

quote:

Miles will prove he's no Saban. I think that LSU levels off around a 9-3 or 10-2 team consistently, and is a top 15 program in the country. However, that is a noticeable step down from where they have been over the past few years. I am really not impressed with Miles as a coach. I see him get outcoached repeatedly, yet is able to win many games on the sheer talent advantage that his teams possess. This will help A&M recruiting in the Houston area and east Texas. Don't get me wrong, LSU will still pose a legitimate and real threat for recruits, but I just don't foresee them having the same type of success in Texas (i.e. maybe instead of getting 5-6 top recruits in Texas each year they only get 3-4). Even if we are able to land an additional 1-2 difference makers or even just solid football players, that will have a major impact to our program.

I fear this may be true.

Christ, why on earth would you waste time on the A** To Mouth board...

No one in their right mind would want to go to school with that bunch of roper wearing jar heads in the middle of no where. Hell, they are so crap that they can't even get women cheerleaders!

If you want to play football, you go to a football program in a football conference. There isn't a more fertile recruiting base anywhere in the country than the SEC and top-to-bottom, we have the best coaches in the country.

A** To Mouth hasn't been a relevant football school since 1996, when the got their a**es handed to them by the Ragin Cajuns and the fans not only tore down the goal post, they carried it over the hill and out of the end zone in a way that was eerily similar to something you might have seen in Gulliver's Travels.

On the other hand, I have seen him outcoach teams also (See S. Carolina last year, Bama last year, Ohio State NC game).

Saban had one year at LSU in 5 years that was 13-1...all the other years were were 9-3 or worse

Miles has been 11-2 3 years in row, and down this year..

Just saying...

Saban is top shelf coach, that can not be argued... It just needs to be pointed out that Miles has done pretty well, and yes, LSU has had amazing talent as well.

Even is this is true, is that bad?

I'll take a consistent 9-3/10-2 over years past. Throw in an SEC Championship every couple or three years and a National Championship here and there and you've got....pretty much what we have right now. I'd be happy with that. Does anyone really expect to lose only 0-1 game each year in the SEC? Get serious.

Didn't realize we were "battling" for Michael. I thought that was a done deal. He has no offer, he's not coming here. That may just be popular opinion of the board though. I don't know.

I find it kind of hard to "battle" over someone we haven't extended an offer to. But its ok, it makes the Ags feel better. They've hit a rough patch as of late.

We could very well go the route of Texas, always a top 15 team ... but it almost never wins the Big 12 South or overall conference, and it always pins its hopes on an at-large BCS bid.
