I believe Vineland movie will be out in the next year or so. Would like to read the novel before I see it.

I don't really care for Pynchon. His cutesy dialogue is just so contrived and inauthentic. Inherent Vice was a good movie though.

I've not read Vineland or V. But I did force myself to finish Gravity's Rainbow after several failed starts. He's lumped in with two of my favorites - David Foster Wallace and Don DeLillo. But damn, Gravity's Rainbow was just not enjoyable, maybe 20% was actually fun. And the rest was a slog only manageable by doing it on audiobook and frequently zoning out. I did somewhat like Against the Day - also on audio - but that doesn't have the acclaim that Gravity's Rainbow has, for reasons I don't understand.
Short version - take on a Pynchon book with a great deal of trepidation.
