I know this is very basic, but I am tired of microwaved "baked" potatoes.

I would like to get ideas based upon your favorite ways to do them (temperature, cooking time, etc.).

I know this sounds screwy, but would prefer not to screw it up.

Thanks in advance.

Heat oven to 350 degrees and position racks in top and bottom thirds. Wash potato (or potatoes) thoroughly with a stiff brush and cold running water. Dry, then using a standard fork poke 8 to 12 deep holes all over the spud so that moisture can escape during cooking. Place in a bowl and coat lightly with oil. Sprinkle with kosher salt and place potato directly on rack in middle of oven. Place a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch any drippings.

Bake 1 hour or 1 hour and fifteen minutes.

When cooking more than one, I up the time fifteen minutes per potato.

Perfect baked potato:

-wash potato
-poke holes all over with a fork
-pour small amt. of oil in a bowl (you just want to lightly coat!)
-roll potato in oil to coat
-sprinkle with kosher salt

*nuke for 9-12 minutes on high to speed up cooking process
*place in 350 degree oven for 45-60 mins, depending on size of potato.

This creates a light and fluffy interior and a crunchy exterior. This is baked potato perfection for me!

I do my baked like this....I think the oil helps the skins from over drying. Going to try the kosher salt next time. Yum!

I some times do mine in the crockpot

Prick potatoes with fork, wrap tighly in foil.
Cook on high 2-4 hours or low 8 hours. (DO NOT add water.)

Easy peasy.

Here is a good one. I also add bacon and green onions also. And put cheese on top last 5 to 10 minutes.

Twice Baked Potatoes:

4 potatoes
4 oz sour cream
4 oz cream cheese
1/2 stick butter
salt and pepper

Bake potatoes at 400 for 1 hour. Cut top 1/3 off potatoes, scoop out inside. Mix all ingredients in bowl, place back into potato skins. Put in oven for additional 15 minutes.
